Default kicker's off idle throttle response

i have a 2005 Mercury 8hp 4 stroke that has about 50 hours on it. it idles just fine but when you try to give it just a hair more throttle it goes too fast which makes slow trolling a real pain. anyone have any tips to make the speed ramp up nice and smooth?
thanks,
redneck

I have the same problem with the merc 2004 8hp 4s I use. Guy at stevens told me to use a drift sock to slow the boat down more.

do you have a thrust prop or a regular prop - put a high thrust prop and you'll be able to have better control - maybe

This is not the cheapest solution, but it works VERY well.

do a google seach for Troll Master. Thing is the best for giving you pin point control of the throttle.
