Anyone have an idea about how many points it's supposed to take to draw a tag? Been working on W. Beattes Butte so kinda figure those odds aren't real great. Thanks.

To draw that one this year would take 10 points, according to the book.

Birdhunter...any particular unit? Looking thru the % Tag Guide, it looks like on average it takes 7 to 10 pref pts to draw a rifle buck tag.

3 pref pts should get you a doe tag.

None or one gives you good odds for an archery tag!

I've drawn two pronghorn tags since 1973. Ft.Rock-Silver Lake in 1988, and Malhuer in 2000.

Birdhunter, you gotta get the % tag guide! Its the only way to really get a good idea of your chances for all the different units...

How many point you got saved up? Im working on point saver #8 this year. :grin:

Looks like I still have a few years to go then. I'm working with only six.

i drew a tag last year for south paulina-north wagontire,10 tags issued with 8 points.so my guess is you need at least 8 :smile: it is the second time since 1985 i have drawn it.going to start building up my points again so i can hunt that area again before i am too old to hunt. :depressed: i was really spoiled in 1985 as i drew the tag the first time i applied.then i couldn't apply for 5 years.in 1990 i was eligible to apply.then 3 or 4 years later they had the point system.so you are not too far off a good hunt imho.maybe you will get lucky this year as i had a ball last season!
