I'll try to catch a big one for Giz. And if I don't, the ones I don't catch for Giz will be big.

Get well Giz. I too have a bad back and know how painful and debilitating it is.

Walt, mind over body. OOHHHHHHMMMMMMMM! Find your center. Rid yourself of bad chi. Be one with your skeleton and spirit.
Or alternatively,
Have your wife buy you a handle of Ole Bushmills and take your self out of orbit for a few days.

Re: Get well Giz
Thanks guys for the kind words. Some of the words I kind of ignore... (from Stew) and others are the kind that are sincere...
I have suffered from severe back problems for years. Last Saturday, the back went out and then when I thought it was getting better on Sunday, I bent over and what didn't retear went. Anyway, lots of pain and bed rest as I am not able to even walk without severe pain.
I enjoy the banter so pour it on, it's the only enjoyment I get out of my situation.
I have a new p boat that needs to get wet so when I feel up to it we all need to go on a float.
Thanks again.
Giz...

Re: Get well Giz
Maybe you could get your new 'toon modified like Stew's, then you could float together in style.
JK, I've blown a disc before so I have some idea of what severe back pain can be like. Lots of distilled beverages and a good jacuzzi should speed your recovery .

Re: Get well Giz
Sometimes when people are sick, their caring friends get organized to see that someone brings them a hot dinner every night. We could do something like that. Sorta like that. We could get organized to see that someone takes Giz's new p boat out every day on a different stream, maybe takes his dog along, too. Then we could share our pictures with Giz.
Get well, Giz, before we actually do something for/to you.

I really want to apologize for insensitivity towards Giz. He is really ok and does not deserve the bad words I previously posted.
I do hope that he gets well and as I am a generous guy, I am going to give Giz my new bamboo rod. He only has a short time with us and I want his remaining time to be wonderful and exciting.
I really like him although we kid alot.
Stew

Thanks Stew. You are really special and are a caring individual the likes not seen previously on Ifish.
Please don't make it sound as if I am on my death bed. My back is out and I will heal. I will be around for a long time to use that new bamboo rod you are offering to give me. I will cherish it and look forward to receiving it.
Your friend.

Re: Get well Giz
Well I would give him my new bamboo rod but he would just put an indicator on it or even drift fish with it so I felt he is not worthy.
As a matter of fact why is a pro-gillnet guy like him a mod anyway????

Not a bad idea!
Even better, I'll bet that bamboo stick of yours would make a SWEEET spinning rod. Just snip off that agate guide with a pair of dikes and duct tape a 2" diameter spinning guide in it's place. Of course, the reel seat is too far back so I would just saw it off and use some small hose clamps to mount a spinning reel (closed face of course) on the upper part of the cork handle (which might need some sanding down first). The final touch would be to correct the low visibility of the natural bamboo finish by spray painting the rod bright yellow. Then your all set for plunking power bait!
Sorry Stew, hope you don't have any nightmares from reading this. Just trying to give Giz a chuckle (laughter is the best medicine). You do realize my sarcasm is entirely motivated by rod-envy.

Re: Get well Giz
Guy, GOOOD ONE!!!! brought tears to my eyes.
I hope all you guys know that Stew and I are trying to give you guys a good laugh.
No sense being down just because of the pain.
I am doing a lot better though and will be on the river real soon.

No way BTS! I've gotten rid of others in line for Giz's stuff so you'll have to get in line after me. I'm pretty sure I'm in first place so I thought I might go over to his house and start inventorying his stuff

Re: Get well Giz
the way you and Giz bicker, his wife might think that you are the cause of the whole thing (which i will suggest to her :grin and that will cause you to drop a place in line putting me ahead of you!!!! how about we both go over and help him "organize" his stash of goods and decide (amicably) who get what????

Re: Get well Giz
Sounds good to me BTS! I'll go after the fly gear and you can have all the other stuff. We'll split his 18 pontoon boats with each of us getting 9 and his 12 other boats we'll split also.
Tell ya what though...you can have the dog since his wife will most likely want to get rid of him

Re: Get well Giz
have you forgotten that i too am a flyfisher? i may not be a purist, but i do enjoy it very much.
how does this sound, you can have half of all the gear avail with an even mix of all the tackle. from that we decide what we want first, then we figure out what to do with the rest of the stuff, like post it in the boat/tackle classifieds and give 50% to Jennie for allowing us to post such ideas and the other half to Mrs. Giz?

Re: Get well Giz
HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I know what a wounded animal feels like with the buzzards circling overhead...
I am not gone yet, but it would help to remember that the previous number 1's on the list where the folks who took me fishing on a regular basis and I always told my wife that kindness begets kindness.... and there is lots of kindness to bestow as my kids don't want it and the wife wants it gone, now!  (Stew that means if you give me something I will give you something back...  )
So as I see it the list goes something like this:
1. Giz the dog... (and no you can't harm the dog to move up on the list)..
2. #$%^&**(&^
3. ^&*(^%$#@
4. )(*&^%$#
Ok, you figure it out. The dog has the code....
Giz...
