Default Let's hear some Buoy 10 reports

We will be heading down there for an extended weekend and I would like to know what to expect other than it will be a zoo. We'll be flying the Jolly Roger.

My brother-in-law fished yesterday above the bridge on the Washington side. Final total was 1 18lbs Chinook, 1 35lbs Tule, and 1 silver released. All on herring at 15-25 pulls.

Was out yesterday with my good friend, the Sturgeonator, and didn't see a net wave. Fished the sawdust pile to Hammond from 7:30 til almost 3pm. Fog and wind in the morning. Calm afternoon and no fish to be seen in the river.
Saw some that had been caught outside. Talked to my nephew this afternoon. His wife got a 25 lb 'nook between buoys 12 and 14 on the incoming. They didn't see many others caught. They'll be here, but who knows for sure when?

The bite was bad again today. I heard of 1 caught in front of Hammond, and about a dozen on the WA side by the bridge. Not very good results at all for the pressure out there. I will be out again in the morning with a guide friend that told his clients for tomorrow not to bother until the fishing gets better. I'll report back tomorrow.

My dad's out there today, he also confirmed it was very slow.

He managed to scrape up one URB, that was it.

I'll be there this weekend.

Good luck!

Good to hear a few are making it out, plan to meet Chummer in Hammond Tuesday morning. Thanks for the open seat Mike! I think we're on the verge of a big push of fish...if history holds. Columbian newspaper is already starting to question the forcast, comparing YTD totals from the past 10 years. Little early yet dont ya think Looking forward to more reports :lurk:

Just returned last night. I confirm all of the above reports. Their info is right on.

I have never fished the ocean and seen it so dead....you will need to run way south! Only bright spot might....just might..... be a bit better bite above Megler on the high tide. If you are taking days off to fish , I would honestly wait at least another week.

Good Luck

I am about to head out to catch the incoming tide. If we don't start to see more fish around here someone might want to think about hitting the panic button. Some guide friends and I were comparing notes from past years last night and we are starting to think there may be more to it than the fish just being late. Let's hope they show soon.

Normally by this time of year we should be having double digit chances every day.

I was out there all day yesterday (not liking the conditions outside) and besides my little coho, we saw 2 other fish cought all day long(!!). We tried the sawdust hole, the church, the north end of the bridge, Buoy 10 itself, it was all dead. As someone else said, it could change quickly. Then again, the fish outside are still well clear of the mouth... I went out to the CR 2 days ago with moderate success but Monday we slayed 'em down off of Seaside. I'm planning to be there again Saturday, the weather report looks great (no wind, slight swell).
Here's a couple of pictures if I can figure it out...

you really want my report?

I look forward to buoy 10 all year .. excitement in the air .. can't sleep .. vacation days used.

four trips @ $40 a trip bait, gas, launch fee etc ... all for 2 lousy hits.

So dissapointed ... hoping it will get better but looseing faith fast.

Need a bigger boat to go out to Cr bouy sounds like.

Fished South of CR on the 200 ft line. Had our limit,10 fish for five people by 10:30AM, all silvers. Back into the boat launch by 11:30.Very foggy, bar crossing lumpy and ocean conditions a little rough for the small boat we were in.

My buddy 3 others fished Monday outside had 2 in the Boat. Fished Tuesday inside on WA side 2 nets for 100+ boats. I fished with him on Wed. wa side and only saw 6 nets for 150 boats. Nadda for us. Yesterday fighting the bad hangover, got to the boat at 10:00 saw all the charters coming in with limits and we headed to the CR and trolled south. After 2.5 hrs had several on and boated 1 nice silver never by any means. Ended up 5 miles south of CR. Actually rather lumpy and foggy for 10#'s of silver. Bar was ok for our hands and a 26' boat at 3:00 certainly not ideal. See you guys out there on Monday for another week. Came home early for things to pick up a bit.
Good Luck
