Default Cleaning stored Collectiables

I'm off to my mother in-laws in El Paso after the BFB Rodeo in a couple of weeks. My father in-law passsed 3 yrs. ago and was an avid collector of militay weapons. These guns haven't been touched since then and won't be for a long time after I leave. My question is what will be the best method of keeping these guns from becoming junk.

When they were new they came in the best storage stuff known. It may still be the best stuff, I'm not sure. It is called cosmoline. But that may not be how its spelled.
