Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
I'll be down there on my 20' Trophy with a navy blue top this weekend and was just wondered who will be around.
I got a buddy returning from the Persian Gulf so I'm gonna try like hell to get him into a fish. Give "Spindrifter" a shout on 78 if you are in the area. Paul

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
Will be there Fri and Sat for sure. Thursday if I can get out of work. Found a lot of fish out from the CR in deep water last Fri and there was a good bite 7-13 miles directly south of the CR on Sat. Will be out there looking again and will give a shout if we get into them.

If the tuna are to far out I'm going to give it a try with the new boat around B10. 21' Thunderjet hard top. Good luck all.

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
IMHO this would not be a weekend that I personally would go hunting tuna. MInus tide and large exchange. South swell against a north wind.

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
I'd go out of Newport or Depot for tuner with buddies with bigger boats then mine. I'm not a good enough skipper to brave the monster that would be a CR tuna run this week end. I'll fix that with a couple hundred more hours behind the wheel instead of behind the rod. Only took me 'bout 50 years or so but I'm a know your limatations live longer kind of guy nowadays.

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
What VHF channel do most of you monitor when in this area? Be kinda nice to pick one so we can keep up with each other instead of hunting over several channels. Maybe we already have this in place....just curious See ya down there. Paul

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
68,69 Be very careful this weekend trying to cross the bar. Updated forecast has 7 foot swells and 2 foot chop, plus a guaranteed nasty bar crossing with the big tide exchange. You have been warned! BTW the swell prediction has changed from a direct south swell to a West swell. That should make it really SWELL!
Be very very careful. Don't take chances please. And listen to the Coast guard on channel 16 and 22A for bar restrictions.

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
Bernie,
Thanks for the heads up and concern Being somewhat of a rookie salty captain, I'm planning on staying inside anyway. I need a few more trips to get my confidence and skills in order. I've always taken things with baby steps when it comes to the water, and that will never change.
Maybe someday we can wing together and you can show me how its done on a good day.
Paul

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
Paul, I think a lot of folks will be fishing the river. I'll still take a look and get some reports but most likely we will be stuck inside. Not all bad though, some nooks are getting caught inside.

Re: Any Salty Dogs fishing CR or B10 Saturday?
I will be there also, VHF 69 or CB 13. Give a shout a let's compare notes.
Please take note of C & E's advise. The bar will be roaring both mornings with breakers and a bar closure likely.
If you don't have alot of experience, don't mess with the bar until well after the change. It will ebb a couple hours longer that predicted.
I am planning on fishing the river unless the ocean conditions are ideal.
This is one of those weekends you get to sleep in and fish all day long.
Let's all go and apply the wood shampoo to a few nookies.
Kevin
