Default Willamette river boat ramp warning (in Milwaukie)

Most of you probably know already but the river is too low now. Its the ramp at Johnson Creek. Yesterday there was plenty of water in the morning when I put in and not enough in the evening. The ramp vanished as will your trailer. I was in a pickle because the person I was with knew nothing of boating. Luckily there were people there to help. I broke one of my bunks and the boats on crooked but I made it home. So if your reading this Cartman its my fault I broke it and it will be an easy fix (I bought the boat from him...nice guy). I tried to angle the trailer in to the water and crank on by hand. Too much angle and weight for the bunk. I swear I learn new lessons every time I go out. Usually the hard way.

the drop off at the end of the ramp has been known to be a trailer eater

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, Flat Lander. I've learned my share of lesson the hard way, too, as most of us have.

The north side is usually better than the south side of the ramp. But when it's really low, it doesn't matter much. You're gonna bang your axles or frame of your trailer on the ground if you drop off the end. And be real careful wading at the borrom of the ramp. One step too far and you'll go from ankle deep to chest deep and skin your knees on the edge of the asphalt.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Anybody ever notice the park bench up on the berm by the restrooms? I'm convinced the city put it there so people could have a front row seat to watch either A) boaters dropping their trailers off the end of the ramp and getting hung up, or B) boaters cutting inside the red buoys across the river and tearing their lower units off.

That whole area is nasty, nasty, nasty if you don't know where the numerous hazards are.

Hey 1pump, the first time I launched at Milwaukie I was 2 for 2. Dropped off the end of the ramp and hit the rocks inside those red buoys. Of course, I'm older and much wiser now.

Watch the Tides in this area and plan to use the ramp at High Tide. Tidal influence is found all the way up to the Clackamas River at the Bowling Alley Hole. The Ramps below this point are all effected by the Tides {Moon's Gravitational Pull}.
