Default CR Tuna report for Saturday 08/13/05

5 boats (that I know of) went out today from Hammond and Warrenton.

Score of 2 at 125-05 X 46-05 (Minaki)
Score of 3 around the same area (Proline)
Score of 2 aournd 125-25 X 45-55 (Black Majiq)
Score of 2 around the same area (radio talk)

Another boat was claiming 6 at 125-05 X 46-05 by around 8A

My score:

1 at 125-35 X 46-00

Trolled out to 126 line - but nada...

Long day, few fish, VERY poor weather (got more than a bit sloppy on the way in)

It's good to be home at the computer, having a cold beer

I would wait until next month on that trip. The 126 line was 70 NM out past the CR. Rule of thumb - 7 miles per 10 minutes here (east/west numbers). Assume the mouth of the river is at 124-00. So running to the 125 line would be 60 minutes = 6*7 = 42 miles.

Dean, I feel your pain. It looks to me like the fish are headed to Japan early. I guess that shouldn't surprise me as they showed up early...
I hope we get a few more chances at them.
I found beautiful water over structure and pounded it all day last week. Same results as you posted.
I talked to a commercial buddy of mine and the bite way way out isn't much better. 5 to 7 fish each for half a dozen commercial boats fishing 90 to 154 miles out... It don't look good...

hey Dean,
I was on the minaki with tom and mel. We tried to de-flower
my wife with a tuna but we crackered the 3rd fish. Glad you could follow us out. you looked hard-core in your sweet center console plowing the waves behind us. That was by far the longest trip out I've ever done. Tough fish to come by.
oh well! Good times anyway!
there's always next time!
Thanks very much Tom (kamloops) for the great time and hospitality.

A few brave soldiers endured seas that were challenging. Wish those suckers would come back but until that North wind changes direction a bit we can kiss those suckers goodbye for now. I'll be salmon fishing until they/if they move closer to shore in the 50 or less mile catagory.

"A" for effort.

Thanks for a fun couple of days, Tom. I forgot what an addition Mel is, even without the pink Tutu this year.

Yes, Mel. Those would be my dancin' shoes. Wondered where I left them. Are they still on board?

Nope Sunny- There in my truck. We all tried to leave something in Toms boat so we'd have an excuse to go fishing on Minaki again.....but he's smarter than the average bear. He sent all that stuff home with somebody, even my diddy bag with my muck boots. :depressed:

I'll send you a PM with my cell number...call me and we'll negotiate a ransom price on them shoes!

Sounds like it'll cost me some cactus juice to rescue the shoes. Give you a shout later today.
