Default Bulls

The Bulls I saw last night looked like they had very little Velvet left. Soon they will be Bugling. Last year they were very talkative the weekend prior to the opener.

A buddy rode his horses into the high country a couple days ago and he swears that he heard several bugles up there. I can't wait to have the hair standing up on the back of the neck when a big ol bull sounds off at less than 30yds. Gotta love elk.

I was in the coast range yesterday evening and watched 2 branch bulls start to spar and then all h-ll broke loose and a bull across the canyon started to bugle and the 2 sparring bugled right back. then the fight was on. its one of the earliest years i have seen in awhile that the bulls start to bugle. got me all pumped up going tonight and see if i can get a responce.

My hunting partner was out putting around out of John Day today and saw two nice bulls, both in full velvet. One was a LARGE 5x5, and the other was a big 6x6 he figures might go about 320 after the velvet is off.

I've spent the last week tearing off a cedar shake roof, and today we slapped a new architectural grade roof on it. Glad it's all done, now I can get focused on "large hooved ungulates"!
