But I want to go now !!!! I know it's a bit early, but never hurts to ask, that bite can be so sporadic and fickle, but when its hot its hot...I don't really are if I catch a thing...An early fall day in the boat on the Neahalem is awesome any day..

I was out crabbing and saw a 22#er and 25#er off one boat on Saturday. The guy was using cut plug herring trolling north along the jetty. slow for everyone else, but a beautiful day.

I fished out in front of the town of Nehalem on Wednesday, 8/10/05. Slow would be an understatement. Fished from 6:30am to 11:00am. Had about 15-20 boats for company. Saw one fish netted. Caught on plug cut. River is warm and full of reddish algae bloom and it does not clear until low tide. Heard of 1 fish caught at Wheeler. Weather was great.

Give it time & it will only get better.

Fishing has been slow! The thing is do you want to wait until someone else starts catching fish or would you like it to possibly be you. A friend used to say "don't wait for the report, make the report!" One reason that the really good fisherman catch fish when noone else are, is because they are fishing when everyone else is waiting for the fish to come in. Besides, I've found the fishing usually is better from the boat than from the couch!

Very well put GO FISH! You live up to your name. Living 7 hours away I can only plan a time to go, so if its hot, GREAT!. But if not, I know that in August you have somekind of chance to catch a salmon. That's all I need. Good luck to you this fall, may you find that elusive 50 lb 'nook.

Went out Tue. Started in Nehalem and trolled above the bridge with fresh herring. Everyone we talked to had either no bites or what they were calling soft mouths. Finally picked up a 12# at the bridge about 9am. Around the same time saw one caught on a spinner. Had a few nibbles that never stuck, so we headed to the Jaws. Saw no action and headed to give wheeler a try. Finally got another bite and landed a Fat 30# hen, around 2pm. We then saw one more being fought about 2:30. Wed. a buddy went out and had one break off on a herring and then lost one on a spinner by 10am above the bridge.
I love fishing Nehalem!!!
