Default Depoe Bay Poached Elk & Deer Pictures

This is the first time I have ever posted on the ifish hunting thread. Last year after returning from southern Cal, I found out from a buddy of mine his buddy discovered a "hanus crime" behind Depoe Bay. Several elk and a three point deer had been poached and left to rot with the exception of some backstrap that had been removed.

I was immediately sickened by his report and followed it up with disturbing results. Don't know whether there are any suspects or if the case has been resolved (doubt it - I probably would have heard),
but thought I would share this disturbing matter with you in case you haven't heard or seen the real pic's.

The more exposure, the better.

Dan

You might notice the sad SOB's removed the antlers from the bull elk. Hope they end up chewing on them in prison.

Can you imagine someone wanting to brag about their "trophy antlers" they poached?

That is just sickening. Let me be the judge and jury if they catch whoever is involved.

There is no jail time great enough for the pond scum that create these kind of crimes. sick to think what else they do. I'm sure this is just one of many hunting outting for these jerks!
Maybe with a ton of luck they will be caught sometime, and I hope the book is thrown at them
HARD!

Very Very sad. Keep us updated if they catch them. We would all like to raise a glass to their fines when they do. It's only a matter of time. There is no such thing as a perfect criminal.

I remember seeing this in a local paper on my way out for Tuna fishing. It almost ruined my day.

Does anyone know if the poachers were ever caught?

Person(s) like this are considered that same stuff that I clean off my shoes when I used to take my dog for a walk in public dog walk areas. They are a waste of humanity. To bad we never run across these fools just as it is taking place. But then again we don't hunt out of season.

What a bunch of pigs, No doubt that involved multiple people. Hopefully they are caught, or dealt some serious Bad karma..

The sad thing is that the non-hunting public sees this as being done by "hunters".

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">Pilar's Mate,

Were you tuna fishing out of Newport? If I remember right the News Times (Newport) had an article with a single black & white picture that didn't do it much justice.

Locally here we did a big article about it in the Depoe Bay Beacon and plastered all 4 pic's all over the front page. Rick the editor/publisher is a hunter. I took a stack of them down to Englund Marine in Newport and gave them to the store to create more exposure.

Needless to say, Bull Elk hunting was real poor this past winter back behind Depoe Bay.

I did put in a couple calls today to the State Police in Newport and Salem. Officer Pearson told be they have some ideas, but no suspects or arrest have been made. He said sometimes it takes a week or two, sometimes a year. Sometimes they get away with it.

When it first happened I was told by several sources that eventually someone might end up in a bar and say the wrong thing to the wrong person. Hope that happens!

Maybe they will show off their antlers to the wrong person someday.

If I ever do hear of an arrest in this case, I will keep you posted.

And it did ruin my day when I heard about it.
