Re: o.k. whos getting anxious for archery season?
I'm itching to get back out there. May only have 4-5 days out there with a little one due in july, but my wife head's back east to show him off in late august so I may be able to play longer.
We even picked up lhamas to bring along this time.
good luck to you out there, shoot straight!

I'm ready, only made it out opening weekend before
missing both early & late season due to a bout with pneumonia.

Re: o.k. whos getting anxious for archery season?
Well I've got the same problem as D3smartie This guy has a rack that is over 38" and he keeps playing games with me after the first year. Here's the story:
It was approaching eleven o'clock in the afternoon and we figured nothing is going to come in but we might just try. So we climbed up the tripod stand and jumped in. Sense there is only one chair in it I sat on the base. About 11:30 he begins to come in and my father starts to grab my head, so, what do I do? Of course we didn't go over this so I look up and say, what? He does the spazing-out hand movements while it comes in to about 20 yards. So I can't hear anything except my dads release snapping off the string as he lifts his bow. Does the deer care? NO! So he's about ten feet from us and a, yes, truck starts coming up the road. We can't hear it but he sure can. Dead run for the hills as fast as it can. To top it off the truck took another one or two min. to arrive.
My father leaves about an hour later and I find my self counting from 70-100 yards away a 6x5 but that’s not all he had drop tines and kickers everywhere. Man was he a "calendar" buck! And he's coming in! But you guessed it another freakin truck comes in and Mr. Deery takes off DANG!! Truck stops and glasses the clearing behind me. GET OUT OF HERE!! (no I didn't yell that but I sure was mad)........

That was three years ago too but I know he's still there because we will drive through there and on the way back there is his tracks......

Re: o.k. whos getting anxious for archery season?
Yeah, I'm already starting to have that annoying itch of blowing on my bugle every time I walk by it. The wife loves that ya know. I can't wait for fall that's for sure. I might be heading to alaska for caribou and dall sheep in August with my uncle up there (with a bow I must say) and then I have a trip planned to pack into NE Oregon 17 miles on horesback for the last 8 days of the season. We're going to try and video all the hunts. I can hardly wait.

Re: o.k. whos getting anxious for archery season?
It's the first thing I think about when I wake and the last thing I think about before I go to bed. There are just so many hunting videos you can watch. Bugling Roosevelt bulls and grunting Blacktails are what I live for. I went scouting last weekend and saw 3 large bears, all boars. I am kicking myself for not putting in for the spring bear draw. It would have been a great opportunity to take one with a bow.

I'm all kinds of pumped up. Even more now that they're giving us the middle 2 weeks of september for elk instead of the first 2 weeks.
