Default stupid question

I am going to start hunting this season and am thinking about buying a gun or two, is there any kind of waiting period for buying centerfire or rimfire rifles at bi-mart? Thanks for the info

Sounds like you are on the right path Jeremy. One thing I could add is in some circles they say that your 22 should be the same action as your hunting rifle. The reason is that every time you shoot your 22 you are reinforcing the skills you will use durring hunting. A bolt action is not as sexy as an autoloading 22 but if you are looking to build skill not just fire off a bunch of rounds it may be something to think of.
Every year Bi Mart has a savage hunting rifle scope combo in 270 and 30-06 on sale in the fall. Savage makes a not half bad rifle for the guy(or gal) on a budget. One can't go wrong with a 30-06 for a all around chambering if you are planning on hunting elk also. A savage may not be the last rifle one buys but it is not a bad first....

Good Luck.

.
I am sure they follow the same rules as everyone else ~ its a fed thing. Bi-Mart is a great resource. I love their prices too.

If you are planning to hunt this fall and are not familar with your hunting rifle, do not get a 22 first. Go straight for the one you plan on hunting with. Buy light weight ammo to get used to the mechanics and movement. As the season approaches, bump the bullet weight up to what you will hunt with. If you plan on hunting with a jacket or heavier clothing, consider practicing with it or something like it on. The material may restrict your movement. So don't let it suprise you when are on a hunt.

I used to like bi-mart and their prices. But they do have a little problem with the waiting period.
There is a 3 day waiting period required, but, they will not give you your firearm until the feds clear you. I attempted to buy a new shotgun last year and waited 5 weeks for an answer. I was eventually approved, but they became rude when I questioned the 3 day rule. Their response was, it was thei civic duty to protect the community regardless that the fed. rule allowed them to give me the gun after 3 days regardless of a decision.
I have no shopped there since.
