Default Rafting the Deschutes

I need help! Well, that's a foregone conclusion, according to my wife.....but anyway, I have a friend who is looking to do a guided rafting trip on the Deschutes next week (Maupin), and he asked me if I could find him a guide. Any advice? Please PM me.

Thanks,

OdieWon

Really? I never would have guessed that! I asked the question of my fellow ifishers because I am seeking information from those 'in-the-know'. Anyone can design a really cool ad in the yellow pages. I'm looking for real time information. Something useful and truthful.

There are several rafting businesses in Maupin. You could probably Google them to get info.

Yea well I take it you have not been rafting much they put you on a raft and you go down the river. Not brain surgery.I'll remember not to give you any advice from now on.

I've done business with All Star rafting. Haven't done the Deschutes, just the Clackamas. No issues found so far.

I've never used all star rafting, but there is a thread under the life in general heading that isn't so nice, you should check it out. I think it's on page 10 or 11. It says All Star Rafting(beware!)

All-Star has always done a good job for me on the Deschutes
A one day guided trip, they make a good lunch, nice guides and good equipment.

Is your friend looking for a splash and giggle trip or a guided trip for fishing?

Don't know what the bickering is all about but if you've never floated the Deschutes, it is a must do in my opinion. Great scenery, kick butt white water and whole lot fun. Definately go with some one who has experience. like some one said bunch of outfitters in Maupin.

River Drifters. A very good friend owns the business. Been in bussiness for many years. Great guides, equipment, and meals. They are the second largest company in Oregon but, they are the best.

Just got back last night from a 3 day rafting trip in Maupin. A guide might be a good idea for the first time down that stretch....but can be done easily without one. I have tons of info if you want to email me....I have rafted that stretch for 9 yrs and have it figured out. We rent our equipment in Portland (wayyyyyyyyyy cheaper) and because we go unguided we can raft that stretch as many times as we want in a weekend whereas you only get one trip down with a quide...per day. We went down 4 1/2 times during our trip and had an absolute blast!

Contact Deschutes U-Boat
541 395-2503 Tom Troutman

We have used them over the last 15+ years for various rental and shuttle needs. They should be able to suggest some good guides for you to use.

We will be floating Macks Canyon to the mouth in late September for our annual Steelhead trip. I can't wait. It is one of the best trips of the year!!!

Wow, got your panties in a bunch, eh Quickie? Seems pretty clear to me that Odiewon was looking for specifics, not the "duh" response. See all posts following your last to see what I mean. No need to get upset about it, brother; he was just rib'n ya.
