Default soft meat kings

I got two chrome bright kings on a charter out of westport washington last week and meet was soft on them. It kind of reminded me of fish that have been in the river a while when they have started to turn dark. Anybody ever experience this on ocean caught fish?

My first question would be, were they kept on ice or at least kept cool before cleaning and how long from time caught to time cleaned? My next question would be, were they Tule's( ocean bright ) or Sacramento fish? Tule's are out there and Sac fish feed off our coast from time to time and they both have poor meat. Earlier this year we had alot of Sac fish off our coast and they often have pale, soft meat. Sac kings have big heads, big mouths and big teeth. They also have big blotchy spots on a pale green background. The Sacramento should have a banner year. Tules are most often recognized by their larger than normal adipose fin as well as being short bodied with the bronze tone and big spots. Some Tules are chrome bright in the ocean though and you have to look for the other characteristics.
