Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Well theres no hunting going on so lets see.
I've seen this on many other boards. All it really is a brag post or a show off post just to brag about your 22 lr.
So what kind or 22 long rifles do you have?
Me, Well I have a
Gun: Semiautomatic Ruger 10/22
Stock: Butler Creek Deluxe Sporter
Stock finish: Black synthetic
Sights: Adjustable folding rear
Scope: Yes, bushnell
I also got a slip on flash hider and a trigger job done. A few 25 and 10 round mags.
Gun: Thompson Contender
Action: Single shot break action
Barrel length: 14 inch match grade bold barrel.
Sights: Yes
Scope: Yes, Leupold 2x
Custom pistol grip
Gun:Stevens model 15 (savage)
Action: single shot bolt action
Barrel length: ?
Sights: Fully Adjustable rear sight.
Scope: No
Stock: walnut
I put a light on the end of the barrel for untold reasons.
22lr of my dreams:
Kimber custom classic with a 22 inch barrel length, laminated wood stock and a Leupold scope.
Well, that's all I have now. I do have a 22 mag but that's not a long rifle. So, what do you have?

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
My favorite shooter is a browning blr model 94 grade 2. I love the short throw of the lever (about 30 degrees) and very comfortable to shoot. My little brother has the next consecutive serial number, same gun, in his gun cabinet  I have ran so many shells thru mine, it scatters them all over the place :depressed:
Ithaca model 49, got when I was five.
Smith and Wesson revolver, blue, 6 inch barrel. Great shape. Not sure of the age but I know it is fairly old, as noted by the 5 screws in the frame.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
O.K. fellow 85er
The only one worth noting is my dad's hand me down. Its a Remington MatchMaster Pro model 513-T with I think a 29.5" barrel. Fully adjustable rear peep sights and it weighs about 9.5 pounds.
Its the best 22 I've shot. The prairie dogs in eastern Montana hate it.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Mine include a Browning micro-medalion, a ruger 77-22, and a ruger 10-22 stainless with a green laminate mannlicher stock. I've heard the last gun was a limited edition gun made exclusively for wal-mart, which was where I bought it about 10 years ago for $100.00. Anyone heard about this particular gun.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
 chummer i also have the 10/22 with same laminated stock mine is more gray than green. I don't like it much, ruger makes fine shooting 22's, but the stocks are to heavy they feel like a club.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Marlin 7000 heavy barreled semi-auto
Bushnell 2-8x compact
Brick after brick after brick of American Eagle ammo; most accurate and dependable ammo available for under $10.
Sighted in at 80 yards, I've occasionally have killed sage rats at twice that distance (very occasionally). Most of them died from a broken neck when they snapped their head around while saying, "What was that?"

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Here is a sampling, Kingfisher:
On top is a Belgian Browning. Also known as a "takedown" Browning because it can be taken apart in the middle for briefcase carry. Also called a "Gallery" gun because these were used extensively in less PC days in shooting galleries at fairs, etc. They load ten rounds through the stock. Notice the outstanding wood. This one's serial number ends in 001. These were often set aside as gift guns and special attention was given to the wood ,etc. Shoots very small groups. This rifle is one of my favorites. I looked for a long time to find the "right" Belgian Browning to match one that I had given to my brother in the late seventies.
Next is a Ruger 10/22, Fajen stock that I bought in the rough and finished, graphite/stainless insert barrel, Volquartsen trigger group, extended mag release and a Tasco 4X16-40mm scope. This one will keep all shots in one ragged 1/2" hole at 50yds. Want to shoot the center out of an Ace of Spades? This is the gun to do it. Weight is something like 4-5lbs.
Finally, a Ruger MkII Government Target 6 7/8" Bull Barrel with an Aimpoint red dot zero magnification sight and Pachmayr grips. Again, extremely accurate. Shoots like a good rifle without the stock. From a rest it will shoot into 1" at 50yds. With the Aimpoint, very accurate fire is easy in near total darkness and the internal red dot does not reveal your position like a laser sight.
Enjoy.
They live in a 1000lb safe bolted to the floor along with many of their buddies and a couple kegs of black powder.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
I've got a dream-come-true Winchester Mod 52D heavy barrel that looks like the day it walked out of the factory. It is so accurate it has spoiled me for my other rimfires.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Remington 541-T with a 5 digit serial number! Topped with a Weaver 3x9. I got it as a gift from a client and it is pristine--I am afraid to take it out and shoot it!
Ruger 10/22- Carbon barrel,synthetic stock,trigger and action job,extended mag release topped with a 2-7 Leupold--TACK DRIVER
Have an old Winchester single shot that my Grandfather gave me--I am going to give it the boy when he is old enough.
I really want a S&W 617 10 shot revolver though--man those are nice!

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Them are some nice guns there crabbait. Am looking into getting a Ruger MkII target bold barrel pistol. Pretty much have it set up like yours there. That's been one thing on my mind as in a new gun to get.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
I've got a couple of old .22s...a Rem. 511 Scoremaster and an old Ruger 10/22. But my favorite rimfire is my Remington 591-M in 5mm Rimfire Magnum. Its a necked down rimfire caliber made by Remington for a couple years about 1971-73 then discontinued. The ammo is un-reloadable and nobody makes it anymore. I have about 60 rounds left.
The 5mm (about .20 cal.) fires a 38 grain copper coated hollowpoint at something like 2200 fps muzzle. It has more velocity and energy at 150 yards than a .22 longrifle has at the muzzle. It is a great little cartridge and is a testament to the fickleness of the American gun buying public. It is far superior to the .22 magnum but the public didn't buy very many of 'em. And, they're now practically extinct. :depressed:
Anybody see any 5mm ammo for sale, I might be interested in it. Paid $50 a box of 50 the last time I found any.
Edit: Oops! Its a 592-M

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
he oughta start by letting me shoot that gun. So how much would a Kimber Super America with a 22 inch barrel length, laminated wood stock run me? 800 bucks?
Wanna know why they are so good?

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
loretta and I each have a pair of ruger 10 /22 scattermatics good for about 50 shots and then they get hot and earn their name --scattermatic
have 2 butler creek clip loaders, a nessesity with grand daughters
reminton speed master 523 for longer shots as the ruger 10 22 leaves a bit to be desired after 50 yds.
have some fantastic shooting for this spring

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
I took my boy out to the range today to shoot his 22 for a while. Some guy along side of us is plinking away with his Ruger 10-22 with a scope. Most people I see at the range with 22's are shooting 25 or 50 yards, but this guy has 6 targets stapled up at the 100 yard mark. He is going thru clips of ammo like fire thru a wheat field in September.
As fast as he can load them he is popping them off. This is no 16 year old kid, but rather a guy I would guess to be in his 50's.
I get my spotting scope out to see what kind of group he is getting down there at 100yds.
His 6 targets dont have a hole in a one of them and he has shot at least 100 rounds in the 15 minutes I was there. At the cease fire when guys are putting up new targets, he grabs a handful of fresh targets and heads down range, I keep an eye on him to see where he goes, he checks out his 6 targets and doesnt change any of them out, yup I was looking thru my scope at what he was shooting at.
When the line goes hot, he is banging away again. I take my pistol with a 6 inch barrel and shoot at an 8.5 inch by 11 piece of paper at 100 yards and put 2 holes in it with 6 shots and dont think I have ever tried to shoot a 22 pistol that far. This guy still hasnt cut a hole in a one of his 6 targets.
I couldnt take it any longer and asked how his gun shot, he tells me he is still getting use to it, it jambs once in a while, other than that, it shoots fine.
I just smiled and watched my boy poke holes in his target at a shootable range.

Re: Whats Your 22 Long Rifle?
Ahh, family firearms; for the love of 22's:
I have a Browning BAR and BLR (Grandfather's and Grandmother's gifts to me respectively). Also a Buckmark heavy barrel scoped and a SW 63 trail gun
Dad has a Ruger Single Six stainless
Wife has a Walther TPH stainless and Beretta 87BB (spendier gifts from me)
Grandma has a Davis Derringer
Grandpa has a Beretta 21A
And Mom has a 22 Gatling Gun on the roof of her jeep. Just kidding.
