Default Stick-on bifocal lenses for fishing sunglasses

When I am fishing from my boat I often wear sunglasses – well in the summer at least! Everytime I re-rig hooks or tie knots I have to take off the sunglasses and reach for reading glasses or bifocals. Last weekend I decided to try a set of Optx 20/20 stick on bifocal lenses. They are made from thin, optically correct plastic. I bought them at Walgreens for $9.99. They come in a plastic storage case.

To install them on a pair of sunglasses, you just put water on the lens of your glasses, and the Optx lenses stick on by hydrostatic bonding. Then dry the glasses off and they are ready to use. You can remove the lenses by getting the glasses wet and peeling them off, and they can be reused many times. I trimmed the lenses down some with a sharp pair of scissors. Here they are on my Serengiti Driver sunglasses.

From the front, you can barely even see the stick-on bifocals.

You can get them in powers of 1.25, 1.50, 1.75. 2.0, 2.50 and 3.0. I tried them out today and they work great. Prescription bifocal sunglasses would be nice, but I am pretty happy with these, especially for the price.

Awesome idea! I can't tell you how many times I've wished for something like that on my fishing sunglasses. Gets to where it's "hunt and hope" when working to tie knots on the boat.

That's definately the hot ticket!

I'll be in Walgreens tomorrow! ...

Great idea! I hope I don't need them anytime soon but it's good to know there's an inexpensive solution out there.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be headed to WGreen tomorrow. Those things will be so handy, them durn knots keep getting smaller and harder to tie every year
