Default Three HUGE Westport Kings

Took Monday off to fish out of Westport with Deep Sea Charters. They said it was the best day they have had all season and it sure was the truth for my friends. We all bought derby tickets and my friend Cuttstosteellies had the leading fish until 4:58 when a 30lber was weighed in with 2 minutes to spare. The three fish were 27lb 4oz, 25lb 11oz and 22lb 2oz gutted.

Team Piscatorial Pursuits was on the Fury Monday. Although no one bought a ticket, biggest gutted fish was 29. Go to piscatorialpursuits.com for the report(s). We limited the boat of 22 people. Had a great day out in the salt! Sure hope it continues for the folks out of Westport. They could use some good days out there.

Nice fish Would you care to share any other info like bait used, direction you traveled to catch them, water depth,Tempature etc. In times past the Westport boats have been known to head south so they are actually not to far off the CR. Just curious to see if Nooks have started to head down that way. Thanks!

We drove about 2 hours north out of westport, WA. The deck hand said we were near the mouth of the quinault river. The boat was probably 5 or 8 miles off shore and was two fish shy of a full limit. all the fish were caught on herring and were less then 40 pulls from the surface. Sometimes falling the bait all the way to the surface before biting. We were mooching for the first half of the day and then trolling for the second half. Trolling seamed to get more hook ups. All but three fish were chinook.

Yeah, we were probably right there as well. A good 2 hour run north. All the fish were caught shallow, with a ton of slack line biters, and fish taking the bait on the surface. Cut plugged herring with a good roll did the trick. We drifted with the current on several "runs". First "run" of the day boated 15 kings. You know it's gonna be a good day when that happens.

If you let your herring down and your line went slack, reel like there's no tomorrow and when the rod starts to load up set the hook! Fish on!

I love slack line herring bites! 3 out of my 4 fish were slack liners. Fun stuff!

The majority of the bigger kings (20 and over) where white kings.

They are a couple of buddies of mine, great fellows and accomplished fishermen. That fish was 60 lbs, and was a white king if I remember correctly. The story is one to be told by Steve(dark hair) as he caught it. We are all hoping to find another like that one time out!
Fish on!

It's just a king....but it's missing the gene that turns it's flesh red.

The meat is just the same as any other king....except that it's not red. It's white.

Ng's fish was huge! That's my dream king!

Nice fishes, I thought I recognized that shot, I was the one that dropped three armloads of stuff (yeah some of it was fish) when I heard "can someone take a picture of all of us together" looks like you boys ripped, shredded and tore them up, awesome fishing that day, good job and glad I could help out some fellow fishaholics with a snapshot.

stam

P.S. if one of you guys got a shot of my daughters fish on the scale, let me know wouldja'...
