I might be able to help you out, but don't have much training experience. Have an 11 week old chocolate I have starting working with. If you are interested email me your phone number.

I trained my dog in the dog training area in the west side units of the Sauvie Island WMA. I haven't been out there for a couple years, but I'm assuming it's still allowed. In the spring there's usually plenty of little ponds and flooded grass. Round Lake, Steelman Lake and Mud Lake will have some water year-round. There used to be trials out there frequently. Ya gotta use steel shot, too.

Also if you train on Sauvie Isle. you need to get a free permit from ODFW. You get it at the ODFW office on the island.

Hi Tom,

Check out Dibble Beach in Rainier, Go through rainier and at the light before the bridge take a right and follow it to Dike road take a left and then follow the raod accross the tracks. You will see a nice pond their on the right just after the tracks. It is great training water.

For land work I like to use the columbia county fairgrounds. It is great for feild work. Get with Brian and he will train with you he lives right on the fair grounds just accross the street. Feel free to give me a yell and maybe we can get together also.

Dan!

Heading west on 30 go up the hill past the Longview bridge turn off. At the top turn left then go down the hill. There are some ponds and terrain below the high school across the street from the park. There are other dog trainers there too. It's known as Ranier Ponds by a few.
Of course there a a few clubs that provide picnic events with permits, terrain, birds, equipment and help. The OHRC held one Sat a few miles away from you.
