I hope he comes back next year
Today driving home I stopped at a place that I have scouted geese before. While looking at about 500 geese I spotted a white goose. No Skein I wasn't at the park. It had white body, wing, and tail feathers. The neck was black and had the regular white cheek patches. It was cool looking. I hope he comes back next year and I find him during the season. I am going to try and get a picture tomorrow to post. Hope I can get close enough.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Or do I need to take my meds more regulary

Did he...uh...speak to you or anything?
Actually it sounds like a penguin to me. Probably came in on this cold front.
Go ahead and get a picture, but I don't know if we can trust them any more. I know for a fact pictures can be digitally altered or even get turned around. I'll tell ya, it just ain't the world it used to be.

Re: I hope he comes back next year
I recently heard that their was an albino cackler hanging out with the rest of thousands that are around here, in fact the last time he was spotted was one week before the end of the season approx. one field east of where you guy's had your ifish goose hunt. I hunted west of junction city the last weekend and was hoping to see him.

No pics. They were to far out in the field. I think if I am going to try and take these kind of pictures I will have to invest in one of those lenses that looks like a bazooka.

Re: I hope he comes back next year
What Rauly neglected to inform us of was that he was on his way home from "Wild Turkey" hunting at the local watering hole.
That may explain the halucinations(sp).

Rauly...when the "ociffer" asks if you have been drinking, peel the label off that bottle and slap in on your forehead and tell him..."No ociffer, I'M ON THE PATCH!"

Re: I hope he comes back next year
Rauly,
No you were not seeing things. I have hunted the Basket Slough area 12 years now. We have seen a few of these white colored geese over the years, probably the same one coming back the next year. My hunting partner took one once, took it to an amateur taxidermist, and never got it back.
Have not seen one for a coulple years now, have not seen many dark geese around here for that matter.
Also interesting would be to here what other strange species have been harvested on valley goose hunts. I have taked White Fronts from a field off of Hwy 22. Had specks on my friends farm on Sept. season last year, no open season on them in Sept! Usually a Snow Goose or two at times on Basket. Anyone else take anything unusual?
Oh, by the way what field did you say that white goose was in?
