Default Bouy 10 or Nehalem?

Okay my father-in-law is coming in thursday 8-4. I want to get him into some great nooky action where should I take him? The Nehalem or out towards bouy 10? Also with water temp being warmer should we just look past herring and hit it hard with the spoons? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hard to say this early. Bouy 10 will get hot ... but when is the question. I would try to leave your options open and watch the reports.

Whatever happened to that 'Nehalem Fish Checker' website or whatever that was where the woman would report the creel reports?

Anyone know?

Sadly, she didn't have time to keep it up. That was a great resource! I think, though, that some people thought it too much info.

B-10 should not be crowded this week and the fish are few and far between. B-10 will get nothing but better thru the rest of the month.

If you are after nooks I would do Nehalem Bay or go outside off the Columbia at the CR buoy for Coho and an ocasional black mouth.

We got one on Saturday mixed in with the Coho.

I'll be on the Nehalem first light tomorrow trolling around Wheeler, Then I'll be picking up my father at the state park to do some crabing. Any one got a report on the crab!
and anyone know the cost of renting crabpots. I've got lots of shad to bring for bait.

See ya

Just remember the secret ifish wave. I'm sure that it helps call the nooks to hook.
I have no proof of that, but that's what I've heard.

Especially at Nehalem.

Nehalem was only fair yesterday. Fished the jaws on the incoming tide and saw 7 caught for about 25 boats and 60-70 rods. It should pick up but who knows when.

Fished Nehalem all last weekend and it was extremly slow. There has been a little bite at the jaws here and there but nothing to write home about. I would fish outside the Columbia right now if I were you.

If i were to go, my choice of the 2 would definately be Nehalem.... Give bouy 10 at least a couple more weeks.

Fished Nehalem Saturday, snuck out in the Ocean 200' and got into some nibblers. Crabbed in 20' of water just outside the bar, 2 pots in one pull produced just over 30 keepers. Picked the finest 24 and tossed the rest. They were big but not very full. The Nehalem bar is very shallow (10') if seas are rough I'm sure you would see sand between the waves. I would highly recommend going out of Garibaldi and fishing North of twin rocks. Good luck!
