Swift scirocco bullets in my 300 win.
I'm new here I was wondering if anyone has had any experience loading the 180 gr. scirocco in a 300 win. mag. What load have you used, powder / primer / case etc... I sure could use some advise in selecting a powder, I was thinking of reloader 19 or 22 or maybe H1000. There are so many powders to choose from it's hard to know where to start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx !

Finschnitzel...since nobody else has jumped on here I will try to help. I have no experience with the combination you aksed about, but might recommend that you get 2-3 different reloading manuals (Speer, Nosler, Hodgdon's, etc). From the results listed, pick an average load and try it. See how your rifle responds. Watch for signs of pressure. Test fire in groups of five. If you have access to a chronograph, it will tell you what kind of velocity you're obtaining. Usually the hottest loads are not the most accurate (with the exception of a sweet .270 that I own). Part of the fun of reloading is working through all these things. One reason other people might be reluctant to recommend a particular load is that rifles respond differently. What works in mine might not be the best load in yours.
Good luck, and welcome to ifish.

Re: Swift scirocco bullets in my 300 win.
Thanks for the advice GP. I just re-read my posting from last night and realized that I was really tired when I wrote it I'm new to ifish, not new to reloading. What I meant to ask was has anybody had experience loading the Swift scirocco in a 300 win mag, and if so what powders did they like brass / primers / seating depth / etc.. I realize all to well that all guns are different but I also know that when something works really well I can always learn from it. Again sorry about the whiny plea posting, I'm not helpless I just would like some help.

All I can say is that Swift makes good bullets. I've only used medium bore (.375 and .416) "A Frame" bullets and they were good.

Finschnitzel
I load for the 300 Win Mag. I use 180 grain Sierra bullets, CCI L/R Mag. Primers, IMR 4350 powder and Winchester cases, I found a good accuret load that is right up at about Max so I have not tried anything else to any exstent.
I have used boat tail and flat base bullets and can not tell a real diference in them. The bullets you are asking about seem to have a good reputation. Good luck

You might check out Accurate Arms website. It is an excellent BB and has a Favorite Loads page. Accurate Arms

Thank you all for the input, especially you ScottD. Those links gave me all kinds of info.
I just finished cleaning my cases and I'm going to start some loading this weekend, hopefully I'll be able to test this tuesday. I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe I can figure out how to use my scanner to post some groups for you all !!!

ScottD, are you over at 24hourcampfire and AR much? Just wondering what your moniker is, havent seen you there.
You other guys should check out 24hourcampfire, there is a ton of really knowledgable guys there, including some big name gun writers, gun builders, and guides.

Re: Swift scirocco bullets in my 300 win.
Sean, I do frequent AR and 24hr Campfire.....they are both excellent sites. AR gets more traffic but 24hr has really nice people. I tend to not post messages very much - I usually just read. I go by Curly at Accurate Reloading and at 24hr Campfire I go by SD300.
I have two 300WM rifles so I am usually looking at info regarding loads for them.
