New To board
First Off, I need to say I've been a lurker for a few months. I enjoy this site and check it regularly for news and updates regarding the important things in life mainly "Fishin & Huntin".
I caught this fishing bug at a young age and although I left it for awhile it is re-emerging due inpart to my children. My daughters love to fish.
I have fished for halibut in Alaska, sailfish and bonefish in Mexico, snook in Florida, but the fish I come back to and dream about is the Steelhead.
I caught my first Steelhead in the Big D in the mid 70's. I had my hand me down closed face shakespeare reel with a homemade pole from my uncle, while my father had new Fenwicks and Shakespeares. I felt a little out done by all the steelhead being caught by my father and his friends. When the afternoon winds started to blow they would all head back to camp. I couldn't I had work to do. No fish is going to show me up. I lost a couple and the adrenaline rush is addicting even at a young age. Finally my time had come and when my steelie stopped I hammered it home.I remember that fish jumping and running causing my legs to shake and my heart to pump faster than ever. When I landed that fish I ran or should I say floated back to camp. I shoved that fish in my dads face, just proud to be a man.
