Default Weekend results

Sorry, no pics. I just didnt get the camera out

I have never been quite so far over the horizon

Saturday had Freakwater and my second cousin. The warm water looked like it was north and way out, so that is where we went. Left Dopey bay and headed for tuna town and then kind of veered North on the way out looking for warm water we saw on the SST. Ended up at roughly the 45.18 line and out around the 125.05 line. I have caught tuna closer to Depoe, than I was from Tuna town (lets just say we were way out there, and tuna town is 49 miles to start with). I was looking for the Tillamook crew at one point out there We were kind of by ourself most of the day. 16 fish at the end of the day, and we only got 1 double all day. Handlines were a waste of time again. We went 164 total miles and it took 59.8 gallons to fill the tank.

Sunday had my cousin again and Ragnar and his buddy Jeff. We knew where we found fish the day before and I have to admit it wasnt motivational to think about launching and heading for the same coordinates when I rolled out of bed after a couple hours sleep We got within 7 miles of our points and found some fishy looking water and started banging fish. One at a time again, and again my handlines are nothing but something we put out and pull in on each fish as we deploy then and then clear them. We were at 13 fish at heading in time and got 4 miles, when Crabbait called us back and decided he wanted to work on his boat. We ran over and tied up next to him while he tried to bypass the TR1 due to a blown hyrdraulic hose on the steering (note to self, get a patch kit for the hydraulic hoses and some fittings to put in the toolbox) Puffin is trolling by and telling us on the radio about the fish he was landing, he didnt need the radio, he was so close I could hear him in the background with no radio. While there Ragnar is jigging a big lead lure. 5 bites came in an hour and a half and he landed 2 fish. Apparently we could have saved several gallons of gas and just jigged out there and got more fish

The Blitz was cruising around on a 24 hour trip in the area and how he was banging fish was amazing. He would get that big boat moving and no more than get started and have to stop it to land fish, get it in gear and be stopped again with fish before he got far. I think I could learn a lot from Mike

Sunday we got a total of 15 fish, went 154 miles and according to the fuel flow meter we burned 50.5 gallons and it was only a couple gallons off on Saturdays fill up, I am sure the boat fills a little different each time depending on how it is sitting at the pump the way the tank is mounted.

Lots of fun, enough fish to say we got some, and I am one tired boy this morning. I am gonna have to figure out how to nap with the crew on the way out and in, and in between fish so I can keep up with them.

Starting to feel like a tuna captain though.

Nothing wrong with that kind of fuel consumption. Sounds like you did consistently well.

Good job indeed. How are ya doing today though? Maybe just a bit worn out? 150+ miles a day are long boat rides!!!
