We always monitor channel 16. Once you make contact quickly to channel 68 to continue the conversation.

Why not 10?

Chanel 10 sounds like a no brainer, If you are talking the CB radio Freq. If not then you better see if that chanel is alocated for the purpose you intend to use it for and if it aint then you better stay off of it as you could be interfearing with some communications you can not hear and is aginst the FCC rules for you to use. So before you jump on any old Freq. check to see if you are alowed to use said Freq. I can not find my book that tells what chanel 10 is aloticated for. Please forgive me if it sounds like I am flaming you , but I am not.

Maybe some one else has a book handy and can let you know which channels you can use for chit chat.

Channel 10 is for Commercial Ships only.

Channel 68 is okay, as are several others.
