how to imitate a crayfish??
Does anyone know any good lures that imitate a crayfish. I started thinking about this when I saw a large SM on the Willy that was reeling in start spitting up crawdads. I thought I could maybe catch bigger fish more frequently if I imitated what they were eating.
Any thoughts??

Tubes, Sweet and Smallie beavers, twin tailed grubs and numerous other soft plastics that look like crayfish. Drag them slowly along the bottom or hop them along. Numerous crayfish imitation cranks on the market also. I like Klawdads.

Black and brown jig with a twin tail grub, can be deadly when you are fishing an area with craws.

For a hard plastic imitation made even better with a simple modification, read this.

Re: how to imitate a crayfish??
I have had real good luck with a Berkley Power Bait 3" craw with a 1/8 oz about 18" above, sink to the bottom and jerk every few.

Re: how to imitate a crayfish??
First let me say WELCOME ABOARD!
Aside from the craw pattern cranks, here's a soft plastic weapon:
Click here to see: Storm Rattle Craw
You can rig this on a football jighead and hop it across the bottom or rig it texas style w/ brass'n glass. Killer.
Try marinating your softbait craws in crawfish or anise Smelly Jelly scents.
Fish this on big round rock feeding flats, like those around the Sandy River delta islands or upper Willey.

Re: how to imitate a crayfish??
They have the Storm Rattle Craw at BiMart. Not much of a rattle, though. I saw those this spring and was sure they would be awesome on a jig for walleye but they haven't proved out yet. I'll keep trying.

I split shot a Zoom Tiny Brush Hog in green pumpkin rigged weedless (rockless) with an EWG hook.
