Gettin\' ready for this years hunts . . .
Good morning!
I’m getting ready to plan for this years tag applications and hunts and I could use a little information about a couple of areas that will be new to me. I would not ask for your “secret spot” . . . ‘just some general area information.
I have enough Pronghorn points to pretty-much assure myself a tag for the 466B Harney Basin hunt. I’m fairly familiar with points East of there, but not this particular area of units 66, 69 & 71. I have lots of various maps of that area but have yet to find one that will allow me to precisely figure-out the boundaries and it looks like this is not a hunt for which ODFW provides a “[MAP]”. According to the Tag Guide, it looks as though the chance for success (one pronghorn, horns shorter than ears) is quite good.
For Controlled Deer, I’m looking at the 148M Ditch Creek hunt as a first choice. I got a new Umatilla National Forest map and I’m thinking of doing some scouting in that area during spring turkey season this year.
Any information regarding these areas/hunts/Harney Basin map/Turkey hunting in the 466B area/etc would be appreciated. Feel free to e-mail me, if you prefer. Thanks! Don
