Default Speaking of turkey hunting...

My earlier post caused me to start thinking of hunting turkeys again. I did it once (half-heartedly) about 4 years ago. I deer hunted White River the year before and ran into a ton of turkeys, As a matter of fact, they followed me through the woods.

Anyway, I have a question...

What are the chances of finding turkeys in the spring in the same general vicinity you saw them in the fall? Do they migrate so much that would be improbable?

Also, I take an annual fishing trip over to Brownlee in May. I have read on ifish that turkeys are plentiful around Hells Canyon. Since I will be over there, I figure might take a day off from fishing and get a turkey. If anyone can give information on locations, or somewhere closer to Brownlee, please email me.

Thanks to all.

From what I have heard, turkey hunting around the White River area isn't much different than deer season. There are tons of hunters and the birds dissappear when the season opens.

If you want to hunt turkeys in white river try and find some private land where the timber starts breaking up going down towards the dalles. I am sure some of the owners don't have a problem with you hunting turkeys. If you get on some land that does not have a bunch of hunters the birds are everywhere. Any locator call in the morning and you will have no problem finding birds. Go before the season and use a locator before it gets light. Locate where they are roosting and then leave without spooking them. Don't do a bunch of calling because you like to hear them gobble. If you can get them coming from roost it can be real easy.

Lots of turkeys around the Klick. Never hunted them but see and hear them all the time while fishing.
