Default IFISH Goose Hunt.... Sat,Hunt Day

Here is the offical final list. Below the list will be instructions on WHAT TO BRING, AND NOT TO BRING. If anyone has questions ask them so we can have this shindig run smoothly.

1.northriver1
2.Lured In
3.Get Bit
4.WesL
5.Skein
6.Gun Rod Bow
7.Bill Monroe1
8.Bill Monroe2
9.Clackman1
10.Clackman2
11.Gooseman
12.Clackman3
13.Fish Forever
14.Steeliehunter
15.Lured In2
16.jfia
17.TDB

BRING THE BALANCE OWED TO BRAD AND DAVE THE DAY OF THE HUNT!!!!

REQUIRED THINGS TO BRING
1.Valid 2003 hunting license
2.State and Federal validation and stamp
3.Valid 2002-2003 OREGON northwest special permit AND Harvest card.(hunters w/WA. goose permits fax copy to ODFW and they will send an OR. permit)

STRONGLY SUGGESTED TO BRING
1.Camo Hat and Face Mask
2.Waterproof Boots (rubber boots recomended)
3.Rain Gear (Preferably Camo)
4.Your Shot Gun (duh)
5.Non Toxic Shells (duh) 25 should be enough according to Brad he's never seen me shoot
6.2 ball point pens (Brad always looses his )
7.Head Lamp if you have one(we WILL be there in the dark)
8.Game Strap
9.Snacks and Beverages (Dave gets hungry by 6:00am )
10.Camera (optional)
11. Bring a High Pitched Call (I5Killer,Traffic,Halfbreed) but I think Brad and Dave can do a pretty good job of calling for us. Plus when they call the shot you can be a little faster than them.

Dave and Brad will have some ground rules and instructions for us when we get there. They have handled groups larger than ours so they will know what we need to do to make this hunt SAFE and enjoyable to all.

WHAT NOT TO BRING
1.Alcohol
2.Dogs(I have been training Get Bit and he should be able to retrieve all of our birds I almost wore the transmitter out on the e-collar but he is doing fine now. Maybe a little flinchy but fine.

Don't forget to comb your hair and brush your teeth before arriving. My undrstanding is that Bill Monroe will be recording the event. I will post a meeting place Friday night after Dave and Brad have scouted our hunt area. They will designate this place. We will meet there and car pool to the killing field.(doesn't that sound good) Some may want to car pool to the meeting area. That is up to you. We will not be able to park 20 trucks at any field we go to.

I can't hardly wait for this thing to happen

Sound off if you would be interested in going some place to feed ourselves after the hunt. (Skein said he would buy)

Skein said that???? Ohmygod.

Thanks for getting the word out. I was just thinking that an update would be good to keep us hyped.

Some of us have talked about carpooling, but Friday night isn't gonna give us much time to pull it together unless we have a general idea of where we're going. I'll drive or ride, doesn't matter.

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys and watching some pros work.

Yes a place to eat after the hunt would be good. I now Dave will be doing some filming for his and Brads video. Lets hope Brad takes us to one of his "Band Banks". You want to see two guys come out of a blind fast. Don't worry Brad and Dave I won't say anything about any codes, hehehehe.

I will be comming from the Eugene area also and would not mind car pooling. Also Is this field going to be flooded? If so are waders more approiate then rubber boots? I would hate to have to sit in mud all day.

Skein
I know why you are flying high . A boat on order. Sounds great. You must feel like a 10 year old kid 6 days before Christmas thinking Christmas would never come. I hope it is everything you wanted and more.

JFIA
If you wish to tag along be my quest. However I must warn you and Skein in advance I am nothing but bad luck. ODFW should hire me to protect the fish stock as all I have to do is think about going fishing and nobody catches fish.

Sounds good, northriver. I was sorta planning on riding with you since we talked about it earlier.

I'm getting stoked!

Skein- I think I remember somthing about steak, eggs, hashbrowns, grits, pancakes, and OJ I am getting old and forgetfull so maybe it was northriver1 that said it and you were going to help him bring it up here.

jfia- Knee boots should be fine, most of the fields we may hunt are just wet in the morning. Muddy all day. We will most likely be hunting out of Eliminater blinds so you should be pretty dry.

Rauly,

Do they put all that in an MRE?

NR1,

Are you talkin' the WHOLE tab? No deal. That would cost more than the hunt! But I'm not opposed to gambling a little bit.... Whatcha got on your mind? Gimmee some details.

Sheesh, I didn't think March 2 would ever get here!

PS - I've got an extra headlamp if anybody needs to borrow one. Does anyone have an extra game strap I can use?

Skein,

I will think it over on a wager, would take your input or ideas. Game strap? One would have to kill something first or are you thinking you would carry my birds out for me? I don't have an extra one but a couple of pieces of rope work will.

Extra head lamp  OHHHH I get it. If you guys car pool Skien and jfia can wear the head lamps and stick your heads out the side windows so northriver1 can see better while he is driveing. but don't do this... ... or you will be picking the bugs out. Although I think it is going to be a little cold for bugs. MRE's I wish they did put them in there I actualy like them.

Speaking of wagers. What about something like everyone pick a time that the first goose hits the ground (Dave's Watch) and closest time wins something? Maybe an MRE

Man, don't you wish you were out there laying in the mud this morning - wind howling, 27 degrees, with your call freezing up. HooooBoyyyy! I did see a couple of coveys of cacklers on the way in, so there's still some around.

Hey DeBander, what's the latest skinny on the huntin'? You still getting into some?

Rauly,

The headlamps are so we can sit on the fenders and rabbit hunt on the way to the field. As for the game strap, I was going to use it in place of suspenders.

The hunting has been good Skein. The clear skies have had most of the birds leaving the roost before shooting time and late morning has seen the best shooting as a result. Rauly asked me to post some pictures so here goes:
This is from wednesday............

Here is thursday.............

And here is saturday............

Sunday was slow due to warm weather that had the birds flying before shooting time and strong winds that made the shooting difficult. But we did still manage to shoot 3 flocks over the decoys. Let's all hope for overcast skies and light winds but we will get some shooting regardless of the weather.
Dave and I are really looking forward to the hunt!

Four more days and a couple warm up days. Can't wait can't wait. Hey Rauly the offer still stand on the shells if you want just let me know. I think 2's will be the choice of the day with a BB chaser. Looks like I will have to take out my hardcore decoys in the morning for a little tune up.

Honestly,

I've been so busy thinking about fish, that I haven't been thinking about geese. I drove to Corvallis and back this morning. There are still a few geese around but many have left.

I'm eager to see the pros do their thing.

It looks like I may need to hitch a ride from Sherwood area. Can anyone help me out with that?

GRB

I offered extra Final Approach blinds before. How many of those do I need to bring? My driver will need to drive a pick up if I bring the FA blinds.
