Dog can\'t stand his hunting vest
So here is the deal, my lab is white and when the birds see him they are gone! So I buy him one of those neoprene hunting vests to hide all his white fur but when I put it on him he changes into el-dorko! I mean he just gives me this look like take this stupid thing off, I hate it! On the last hunt of the year he dropped the bird closed his eyes and prayed I would take the stupid vest off. Woody still hunts hard with the vest on but I know he hates it. Short of covering the dog in mud I don't know what to do, any ifishers have a white dog before or an opinion?

ROFLMAO
I don't have an answer for you, but that picture is priceless!!! If he finds out you posted that picture of him in that "awful" outfit, he'll probably never forgive you.
Too funny!

Re: Dog can\'t stand his hunting vest
Bought one of those for my chocolate lab when he was young. Did all the measurements and ordered what was supposed to be the appropriate size. When I finally got it on him, he hopped around like his feet were on fire. He actually looked like a sausage with four legs sticking out.
Sent it back to Cabellas and ordered the next larger size-it hung on him like a sack! :depressed:
Sent that one back and gave up. He's 14 now, so the bad weather apparently had no affect on him-he always looked warmer than me sitting in the blind. Those white dogs do stand out though, howabout a little semi-permanent green spray paint?? Good huntin'

Re: Dog can\'t stand his hunting vest
My female is the same color, pale yellow, more on the while side. I got the vest and we trained in it and lots of treats, now when the vest goes on, it's a good thing. Treats and she gets out of the yard. Make it a good thing and he'll look forward to the vest, just like when my hat and coat go on they get to go.

Re: Dog can\'t stand his hunting vest
Nick would not care if I tied ribbons on him as long as he gets to go hunting!!
Vest looks a little small. Have you tried a bigger one?

It looks to me like he thinks he's the next best thing sliced bread. Maybe it's worth it if he's more mellow.

Re: Dog can\'t stand his hunting vest
OK I'll open a can of worms!Black labs don't "need no stinkin vest"
I haven't heard of yellows spooking ducks. You probably really don't need to use the vest.Just keep the dog still.
