CR Sturgeon Bite

My kids and I went Salmon fishing last week on the CR out of the Marine Drive launch. We fished for a few hours and didn’t catch anything but lures full of weeds . The kids were getting restless so we decided to try for sturgeon. We went to the mouth of the Willy...The only bait I had was some large sardines, so I cut the head and tail off and went to work. The bite was nonstop and we ended up with a 59" keeper. Not sure if it was the day, location or bait but I have never had that much action with smelt
