Don't be confused, the no wake zone goes out 200 feet from the dock. If your 200 feet or closer to the outside dock you will need to slow down. But as a good boater, we all are, we slow down for this area so we don't give a flapping bird man heart failure. The next time your down, stop the Sheriff's patrol and ask them what the policy is for Sawyer's no wake area. Then you'll know for sure.

Happy Boating!

This is copied from the OSMB Site
Basic rule for Slow-no wake. (OAR 250-010-0025)

Operators of boats must observe Slow-no wake, maximum 5 mph speed limit within 200' of a boat ramp, marina or moorage with a capacity for six or more vessels; a floating home moorage with six or more structures; or people working at water level. Operator may be liable for damage caused by wake. This rule does not apply to commercial vessels or river navigation when more speed is needed to ensure safe passage.

SW,
Thats what I thought and that is how I have always played it going by there! I always give him at least 300 ft most times more if the tide allows it!! I don't want to upset the fellow, but isn't 400 yards enough space to comply with the basic rule?? That is how far off his dock I was yesterday? How can I do this right???? MM

With regards to any No Wake Zone, place yourself in "his" position and think to yourself, how big a wake am I willing to take? Regardless of the speed or seemingly lack of speed we are always responsible for any damages our wakes cause. Even the Coast Guard is responsible for any damages our wake does, and we often receive calls when we leave a wake. Just something to think about the next time we're underway... R
