Default new bow

hello all-

Yesterday i stopped by Wallyworld in Dallas...the cart i picked just automatically headed to the sporting goods section...i had no control over it. It led me to the archery aisle and pointed out a PSE Nova bow kit (includes quiver, arrow rest, and sight...70 lb draw...29" draw length---what i'm shooting) all for $120 on clearance.

Well, I saw a guy doing price checks on stuff...asked him if the PSE bow would be coming down in price...he punched some on his little handheld scanner thingy and said "Yep...just went down $20 but that's the best i can do". This same guy also dropped $10-15 bucks off a "buddy" ladder stand that was on clearance for me (it's a 15' ladder stand with a 40" platform)...paid i think $55-60 for it (last year)

this will only be my second year of bow hunting, but felt that this bow was a steal at $100. Am i right? guess it's a little late now for asking opinions on it, since i'm currently hiding it from the Mrs.....LOL

I'm probably going with carbon arrows...thoughts??

thanks in advance for any thoughts

Pretty good bow for the price of a 100 bones, but it's a basic design. Pretty much depends on what you're hunting and what kind of performance you want to see. Shooting carbons will help out also, but it'll be a great deer bow, and average elk setup. But in the end, it's not the bow that kills, it's the shot placement.

In the end, not a bad buy.

Hey Montster, Great buy. You can't even get a decent used one for $100. I saw that bow a week earlier and thought about buying it for my son. Had it been a 45 to 60 lber I would have. They also have some real cheap broadheads, ($5)did you get stocked up? I'm filled up for years.

Like they said, wear it out practicing. Practice kneeling on one or both if you call elk. Many good fortunes and steaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year was my first year bow hunting and I bought that very same bow and shot carbons. It shot about 200ft pr sec. and yeilded me a nice 2 by 3 muley. I still remember the arrow arching when I shot the buck at 40 yds ended up a little low but straight through the liver, it ran 150 to 200 yards before expiring. Had to track it for about 2 hours but it was alot of fun. Im going to get a new bow this year just looked at the AR 34 by PSE it shoots about 310 ft per sec which should mean no arching at 40yds.

I would recommend staying away from pse. They are the noisiest bow I have ever shot or heard. Watch some Primos videos and you'll here what I mean. I would go to ebay and pick up a hoyt if you're strapped for cash like most of us blue collar are. If not go and get one of their new cam and 1/2 bows. SWEEEEET!!!!! I have the razortec and its way quieter than anything mathews has ever kicked out.
