Default Astoria Coho

Father Inlaw reported to me they got in on some Silvers Today outside of the Columbia River entrance. Started out a little bumpy but then it flattend out. Trolled to roughly 10 Miles out no Chinook all day. The biggest Coho weighed 14#, that aint bad in my book. It was reportedly hit and miss on the action. Trolling Flashers with Anchovies were the ticket. They had their limits by 1:30. They crossed the Bar outbound at 6:00 AM so all in all the trip wasn't too long. I sure hope the "Silvers/ Coho show up in force soon.

Any news about coho fishing in the ocean out of Newport?? I haven't taken my boat in the ocean yet and would rather cross the bar at Newport than the Columbia River. I've been trying to find some positive info about coho fishing in the ocean but there doesn't seem to be much going on. Is this unusual for this time of year?? When does the ocean coho fishing peak??

I talked to a Ken Elie of Outdoor Pro Shop from the San Francisco area yesterday. He stated the Ocean Fishery is looking to be about a Month late. He said its picking up and it looks to be a good catch rate going on. I also talked to Noyo Fishing out of Fort Bragg and they are taking some good numbers also. I think the fish are heading home just a little late thie year. Linda from Tackle Time in Warrenton Oregon reports that the guys going out are coming back with fish. I haven't heard anything from Newport as of yet. Good luck and don't forget the Life Jackets.

Today we fished for five hours to get our limits (16) fish were scattered, no wonder based upon the blow the last few weeks. The temp was cold at 52 most areas we fished.

Nothing huge but did well with cut plug herring soaked in Pautzke's Green nectar.

Tomorrow and Sunday should be good as the fish and bait will start coming back together from the calming ocean.
All fish were loaded with large Anchovies and Herring.

Sounds positive, and a little searching never hurt anyone.

The silvers are finally starting to show at Sekiu, so I agree they may be a little late. What a goofy year?

Hey, it's my 500th post!!
