In Oregon it is.

My understanding is the only time scents are ok is if you're wearing it.

what was i thinking? In a state that calls a rubber worm bait, of course a scent would also be bait too? I'll call osp and get a definite answer, then post it here.

Distilled: if you hunt bears and have never burnt honey then you probly qualify to put one of those "Native" stickers on your truck

If you are not wearing the scent, it is bait.

Page 36 of the regs:

"OTHER REGULATIONS: Using bait to attract black bear and using dogs to locate and tree black bear is prohibited. Applying a scent
or attractant to one’s body or clothing while worn, is not baiting."

So that must mean I can pin a bunch of krispy kremes to my huntin' jacket and I'm good to go!

LH-
I'll tell you what. Lets put me in that new tree stand of yours. Then we can roll you in honey and light you on fire. As you are burning to a krisp and screaming in pain I will shoot the bear that is sure to come see what all the noise is about. But don't worry it won't be against the law because you are wearing the "scent". Think about it and let me know. I am just looking out for you best interest here buddy.

BlueWater.

What you need to do is make some kind of hat that can hold a can of honey on fire. Were it will not burn you some kind of hat made out of pot holders haha it counts if you are wearing it. I had a friend that use to smoke Swisher sweets wile hunting bear cause the sweet smell the bears come a running.

pdxkevin: Actually, donuts are premium bait in a bear trap when they are trying to catch problem bears. If they are pinned (I suggest hot glue rather than pins) on you, you best have that rifle ready.

Hey Hook... my point was, if a cop comes up and says; "Why are you burning honey?" and you say; "So I can kill me a black bear sir!!" you'll probably not do so well in court.....
