Default crabbing newport saturday

So the tidal exchange is going to be big on saturday, and I heard crabbing is best for smaller tide exchanges.

Am I wasting my shad bait and time to rent and target these newport crab on saturday? high slack is 3:09 pm and Ive got the boat booked from 2pm til 6pm.

any opinions?

my personal opinion is that you'll be fine. keep a good eye on your gear since the tide will be ripping. I'm going to give it a try as well since there isn't much chance of getting out on the ocean tomorrow.

You'll be fine from around 2 - 5 ( hour before / after exchange or "slack"). When the tide starts to rip around 5:00, look for places out of the current such as the area west of and around the corner from the big green tank ....you have to sometimes work for your crabs there, but you'll be out of the current and crabbing.
