Scoring racks
Okay so methinks I might be interested in having my deer and my father's elk from this year scored. I understand there is a head and horns competition at the Sportsman's show where you can get that done. Anyone done this before? I guess it's according to B&C rules, so the skull has to be attatched. Now does this mean the whole stinky skull, or it just can't be split or what? Did I make a grevious error putting them on plaques?

Re: Scoring racks
Ben
I am pretty sure there is no problem with cutting the horns from the skull as long as the skull is not broken between the horns.
Pretty easy to get a nice wide measurement with a little break and reattach.
I have seen people at the sportsman show standing in line for hours waiting to be measured.
Good luck.

Re: Scoring racks
You can still have it measured but they will not be official scores unless they can see the skull plate.
You are right--they just cannot be split

Re: Scoring racks
Bird Hunter,
If you'd just like to get a close Score I've found a very easy way to score your own.
Go to www.dto.com
Scroll down to near the bottom on the right, there is a list click on either Boone and Crocket or Pope and Young score sheets.
Once in there click on the shockwave icon and download it if you don't already have it.
Now get a cloth measuring tape follow the directions and enter your measurments. The program does all the adding.
I printed off a hard copy and did my measurments with the head on the wall.
Click on where it says tape at the top of the score sheet and it will give you all the fraction to decimal convertions.
Have Fun  K16

Re: Scoring racks
And the deer comes out to 141 2/8. For a blacktail, that's not too bad. I'm super-pumped. Think I'll try to get the elk in tomorrow.
Very good to see Jay, Ryan, Ryan's Dad, Dylan, Glenn, Roy, Jennie, Grant, Scott and several other ifishers out there.

Re: Scoring racks
BH...isn't B&C qualifying score 135 for blacktails? Congrats on a real monster.

Re: Scoring racks
Congrats to Birdhunter for his 2002 Blacktail that is in the top third for Oregon and would make B&C! We're not worthy!
