How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
I consider myself a decent fisherman but Timothy Lake kicks my tail more often than not..I'm taking a few young-ins up there this weekend...can I get some help from some of you Timothy Lake veterans? Thanks, BT

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
I meet a friend up their the weekend before last. We rowed his rubber raft dragging a rooster tail (orange) and hooked 10 stockers in about an hour. This was between 3-4 pm. Seemed easy, but maybe it is not always like that. We were close to the bank near the HoodView campground.

The old stand by works in every lake I have ever tried. Troll flys. I like a Wooly Booger(olive or black) in front and then a bead head about 18'' behind tied onto the hook of the front fly. Have caught two fish at once numerous times. Used this with great success at Timothy. The southern edge of the lake in the 8’ to 20’ range seems to be good.

R u fishing from a boat or on land? When I used to fish up there (some years ago from a raft) Use light line 4lb is what I used, black swivels and small hooks. Single balls of fire eggs, worms and the killer bait for me was small salad shrimp! Attach snap swivel to line, 12inch leader off that, small hook and bobber about 5-6ft up. If on land same setup, or use sliding egg weight above snap swivel minus bobber. Good luck and tight lines

Fish where they plant them. It's on the ODFW stocking schedule.

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
In June the kids used Power Bait Power Balls from the dock, kids managed limits of stockers. The Power Balls are tough and can be used again and again, best product power bait has made to date I think. From the boat we used trolling rigs, Kokanee Killers with small blades and 18" back a wedding ring tipped with worm. Had limits of stockers in less than 2 hours.

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
I was up there last weekend and we caught about thirthy of them early morning then it was scratch fishing from about 11:00 if on the bank try the north end of the boom near the dam. If in a boat try trolling north from the boom until you reach the end of the straight away. I was trolling with about a quater of a worm with a #5 split shot. troll slow. good luck.

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anywa
Mini dipsy diver. flashers, and a wedding rig. Worms on the rig will catch rainbows, corn on the rig will catch kokes.
Soak the corn in anise oil overnight.
Should seal the deal!
This will work good in hotter days, when the fish are more than often suspended under the surface..
I usually fish around 20 pulls, or fish at a depth according to your fish finder and where your marking fish.
If this fails, try flatlining a kripled herring, or a super duper trout lures.

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
I've done well with size 70 hot shots in solid red
or rainbow trout color trolled 60 feet behind the boat.
Also gold or gold/red spoons trolled same as the
hot shot- no weight. Hot shots, use a clip. With
a spoon use a snap swivel.
GOOD LUCK
p.s. 8-20 ft.deep

Re: How do you catch them darn Timothy trout anyway?
it is very easy....wait till the day after they stock it!! or maybe you will get lucky and be there when the truck arrive`s with the fish and than just fish at the bottom of the flute where the fish hit the water, now that IS THEE best location. other than that I have no idea.
