Default ODFW Hunt Cancellation

Guys,

I sent a message to Director Ball regarding cancelling the rabbit hunt at EE Wilson.

I just got back a message that Nancy Smogor will be responding on this subject.

Please everyone. Voice your opinion. They do work for the sportsmen of Oregon.

I'll post on the results as I get them.

There's another rabbit hunt out there this weekend. It's the "wheelchair" hunt advertised in the regs. I wonder if Rossell will be out again to save the world from the big bad crippled guys. I sincerely hope he doesn't try to interfere with my hunt because I will go after him for illegally disrupting my hunt.

Maybe I'll share my Kentucky Fried Chicken with him.

Anyone heard anything yet?? I'm giving it until this weekend, and then Monday I'll be working on some more pointed letters.

Notice the "pro-hunting" letters got almost NO EXPOSURE in the Oregonian??  Two more "save the bunnies" letters printed in the last week, and ONE "pro" letter gets a blurb in the online comments sections.

Guess I should have known better..I know of at least 6 that were sent, maybe we need to do a little more??

Sorry Bill, I enjoy the work you do, and it's obvious you're on the sportsman's side, but looks like the editors are definitely leaning the other way.

Rogue - How many of the six letters met the Oregonian's 150 word maximum rule?

I've noticed that in successful letter-writing campaigns by various environmental groups, the EE Wilson anti-hunter bunny-huggers being only the most recent example, their letters tend to be carefully timed to arrive a few days apart and they are short and to the point. They don't try to sum up the entire controversey...........they just keep hammering a simple message over & over.

Letters-to-the-Editor are read by hundreds of thousands of people and are a good way to attempt to sway public opinion. Brevity is the soul of wit and op-ed page editors like it, too.

I think there are another one or two pro-hunt letters coming, but it's getting past the time now. I don't sense a bias up there...they weigh a lot of opinions and had an election and lot more serious business to attend...

Speaking of which, don't forget Lindsay's in Salem almost daily trying to save his department...

We need all hunters and fishermen and women in Salem Tues. Feb. 4th at 1PM hearing room D, to show support for the ODFW Lic. and Tag fee increase, so we keep the thing we all hold dear to our hearts. Bill Monroe will be doing a story on it in Sun. Paper. Hobart Mann will have it on his program this Sat. Morn. Thanks Jerry
