Welcome datsjeep! Good story.

BTW, did you know that new ifish members are required to also post a detailed map of their hunting story area complete with roads, streams, location of kill, etc, etc.?

GSA is absolutely right! We also require the type of call you were using, your brand of camo, type of bow and whether or not you were using scent-lok.

I know, they're just a few, unimportant particulars but they add so much to the story.

Great story and well-deserved success. Welcome aboard.

Great story. Welcome to the site. My best 24 hours of archery I got a 5X4 bull in the evening and next morning got my first bear. I know how excited you must have been!!!!, and disappointed cause you had to quit hunting. :depressed: And probably go back to work.

Welcome

Ok a few more details. I always use primos white diaphrams with a plate. I was not using scent lock cammo because it was 90 degrees and no I wont tell you where I was exactly but it was in the Ochoco unit.

Thanks for the welcome

Default Introduction story

Keeping with tradition I thought I would post a succesful hunting story as an intro of myself. This happened this year so it is still fresh in my mind and since I have not been able to fish recently I figured I would tell this one.

On the last week of bow season I called in a 6x6 bull elk to 12 yds and needless to say he is in my freezer. A friend and I worked this heard of elk for about 5 hours before I got the big boy in. We had a couple opportunities at smaller satelite bulls but really wanted the big one. He finally couldnt handle my cow in heat call so he came over for a little action, and he got it.

While my partner went on a 4 mile hike to retrieve the Quad I started dressing out the monster. After an hour or so I was done and waiting. I decided to bugle to some elk across the canyon just for fun. I got another satelite bull pretty hot and on his way over to me when he heard the quad comming over the ridge he was on. My friend over shot the ridge I was on by 1 and the elk took off. All of a sudden I see this 4 point buck comming down the hill. I knocked an arrow and cow called at him when he was 30 yds away. He stopped and I drilled him. All in all it was a real good day.
