Default a good book

I came across this book. I have really enjoyed it. I thought I would pass it on. It's called:
On Killing- Meditations on the chase. Edited by Robert F. Jones. It is a collection of short essays on hunting/fishing and the such.

"One does not hunt to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted."
~Jose Ortega y Gassett

hope all is well

Default Re: a good book

I read it a couple years back. Smart fella. Had it figured out long before these bunny huggers decided we should not hunt. I hunt because I have to. I have no choice.

I killed a cow elk this morning. After I walked up to her, I looked at the fog rolling up the draws and felt the rain slap my cheek. I looked at the dead cow, and again took a mental picture of the tiny rivers rushing down every draw. The ferns that seem to carpet the forest floor. Moss hanging from trees dripping water.

My memory is poor most of the time. I have to concentrate just to cover my bases. Everything seems unclear and muddy in the human world. I killed an elk this morning. Everything was clear.

Mark and the dog.
