Default Need suggestions on lake camping.

Going to go lake camping in a couple of weeks. Would like some suggestions. Was thinking Timothy but wouldn't mind going somewhere we could get into some fish with some girth. Would like to be within 2.5 hours of Portland.

Great question. I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully someone will come up with some answers. I was thinkin maybe Merwin, Yale or Swift Res? I'd like to find a place where you could have a camp fire too.

I was up at Swift Res last weekend. Lots of fun! Only fished for a little bit one day, had a couple nibbles....

The camp ground was EMPTY! We only saw people in 2 other sites clear on the other end. We were camped a stones throw away from the waters edged, a short walk to the boat ramp. The 3 days we were there, maybe 12 to 15 boat trailers in the lot each day.

Water was warm even though it was overcast and rainy part of the time.... That campfire sure felt good!

Ever tried lost lake out of Hood River? Ussually a little crowded, theres a fee fpr campground use, but other than that..... Theres a boat rental/baitshop and theres huge fish in the lake. My friends brother caught a 21.5# rainbow 6-7 years ago! Anyway, just a suggestion.

Thankx for all of the suggestions. I have been to Olallie but hated that last 9 miles in. That lost lake sounds pretty good. Might try that. Jomamma, didn't know you were an Ifish member. We should hook up for some fishing and dirtbiking sometime. I'm usually off work Sun-Tues.

I like going to the boat only accessable campgrounds..... There is one on Smith Res and one on Detroit Res that I know of. Smith had a local bear that came and kept us company at night.... it was a blast.

Would love to, maybe get Other Tom to go with us, got a new boat, so I could cover that. Lost lake sounds like a good idea!
