Default Hanging Up The Decoys

Well today was officialy my last day of duck hunting for 2003 - didn't go out w/ a bang either - didn't pull the trigger - big change from yesterday - the weatherman was only 180 degrees wrong.... Overall more good days than bad though. Full concentration to steel and Nook.

some pic's to say good bye with:

I'm gonna try once more sunday. Drove the length of the Willamette valley yesterday (hwy 99W and hwy 47) and saw quite a few mallards in flooded fields near Ankeny and small bunches here & there. Today saw 200-bird flock of pintails on flooded ryegrass field near Junction City.

One more trip for me. Gonna head east on Saturday to try to finish out the season with a few ducks and geese. Hopefully we'll get to pull the trigger a few times and give my little girl a chance to finish out her first season with a bird in her mouth.

Distilled - Except for the federal & state refuges, I think almost all of the land along 99W and 47 is private...................

I see, so do you know some land owners or did you have some luck getting access?

Distilled- I hunt either a small pond on private land owned by friends or on public land (there is a little) along the Willamette river by jetboat.

ahhh.... nice to have friends ain't it?

The bulk of my water fowl hunting this past couple years has been in flooded fields of a few farmers I know around the Dallas area. Always done pretty good but I miss hitting the river. Old friend of mine used to have a sled and he'd haul me out there throughout the season. We had some good shoots around the Buena Vista area but haven't had the opportunity to get back out there in a couple years.

I'd really like to find some better places locally for some jump shooting, I think that has always been one of my fav's.
