Awesome bear! I don't know if you two have considered hunting N. CA for big bruins. I lived in Eureka for years, during one 24hr period I saw 12 different bears. I know people who have seen many, many more. Also, bow season open for bruins with the opener of general archery for deer. So you can hunt late August and catch the bears still in the late season berries and don't have to use dogs either. Anyway just my .02 worth.

Default Bow Bear (pic)

I just got some film developed that I've been carrying for a while.

This is my buddy Keith from K-Falls.

It was the second bear he shot at in the 10 days we hunted last September. Yes Virginia, there are an awfull lot of bears in NE Oregon!

It was shot with his new hoyt bow at about 30 yds while he was watching dear and "talking" to elk.

Got some cool scenery shots of the "big wilderness" and our stock...but no horns :depressed: We had a lot of fun in the wilderness on good stock though.

Really nice pelt for a fall bear. Nice and shiny black, brown muzzle, make a nice bow trophy.

Congrats Keith.

Don't go crazy Gary,

If he'd have been shooting my Mathews, it would've dropped in its tracks!!!

Ask the killer where the strike was.

It was kinda late, and his eyes aren't what they used to be. Heck he's a GRAMPA

Lightline: I don't think it's too much to divulge that we were packed into the Minam (Eagle Caps) We saw another bear (that Keith missed) earlier in the week over by Wallowa.

He is getting old !! Might have been the shakes from the wedding that was just weeks away. No, wait he was glad to get the male to female ratio in the house down.

Hey what are your plans for big game in Oregon this fall if the draw gods are on your side ?

BTW, " Grampa" wants to know to know where your "bullseye" on a bear is.

You can tell "GRAMPA" my bullseye on a bear is the same place as it is on the first elk I killed. There are lots of major arteries in that part of the body.

Hey, when you find a method that works, stick with it right?

My Bow hunting mantra:

When any prey turns away...watch out...arrow in the air...cover your derhierre!!!

Cam Hanes always says "pick a spot"... never said which spot.
