Re: whats in your nymph box?
It really depends what kind of nymph fishing you're going to be doing. I most likely will change the nymphs I have depending on where I'm fishing (lake, river, etc). I will always carry variations of the pheasant tail and hare's ear no matter where I'm fishing.

Re: whats in your nymph box?
My go to nymphs 90% of the time are beadhead pheasant tails and beadhead hares ears. To fill out my top five would also include scuds, stones, princes. I fish a two nymph set up with a larger nymph tied to my tippet followed by smaller on a dropper tied to the bend in the hook of the larger nymph. For example, on the Deschutes, I might tie a stone on top followed by a hares ear or pheasant tail dropper. On the Crooked, my mix would be scud and hares ear or pheasant tail or even two scuds. I've had some amazing days on the Deschutes and Crooked with Prince nymphs, but I also tend to catch more whitefish on that nymph than other nymphs.

Re: whats in your nymph box?
I second all above posts, top two nymphs are pheasant tail and hare's ear both with bead heads. Hare's ear 14-16 and PT 16-18, tungsten beads on the smaller flies seem to improve catches. These two flies will catch fish anywhere, streams or lakes. Three other good nymphs: stone fly, caddis larvae, and green rock worm. If I have never fished a water before a tie on a bead head Hare's ear 14 tan followed by a bead head PT 18. Great searching patterns.

Double beaded hairs ear is also a good one to have. I have had good success with it on smaller rivers. Prince nymph and copper johns have also been very reliable.

Re: whats in your nymph box?
Being fairly new to flyfishing, I have a few staples that I use when nymphing:
Pheasant Tail
Hare's Ear
Rock Worm
Caddis Emerger
I will use them differently based on the water I am on. When on the Met, I will tie a larger Pheasant Tail on my tippet and then tie a Hare's Ear or some other small variation onto a dropper at the point where the leader and tippet meet.
When on the D, because you can use lead, I will tie whatever I want my primary nymph to be and then put two small split shot up above my Surgeon's Knot on the leader.
Good luck, once you hook a fish on a fly rod, you will never want to go back to gear fishing, at least that is what happened to me.

Pheasant Tails (nonflashback, flashback)
Caddis Pupa
Zug Bug
Copper John
All those in various colors where applicable, with beads and without. I'm assuming were talking about Rivers and not Lakes.
