Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Thanks Bluewater,
I used the link on your attached page to send a note of thanks to Mr Saxton.
Please take a moment to do the same. In the fight to protect our right and heritage, we must appreciate and encourage those willing to stand up for our side.

This is yet another example of a group with extreme views trying to impose their ways on others.
A California based group telling Oregonians what they should and shouldn't do.

An alternate motto was "Nobody asked you, so go f--- yourself." The ADF&G would've hung the phone up before these clowns even finished their first sentence. Sure do miss that state sometimes.

His veiws and ideas are why I voted for Mr. Saxton in the primary's. We need people like Ron in Salem. He has a spine, and is willing to adress the tuff issues.

Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Even though I'm a Democrat, after some research, I found that I could've probably supported Saxton. He seemed to be the most "in touch" person that has come out of the Rep party for a while, and looked to actually be a decent "facillitator". Unfortunately, that's exactly what got him knocked out of the Republican primary.
Good article, Ron!!

Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Keta,
They did? I was wondering about that......
There was a big flap in (if I remember right) late '94 over using helicopters to shoot wolves.
Some protesters actually took to the streets in downtown Anchorage. They got some press, but otherwise nobody paid much attention. Then some high-profile Hollywood types got wind of it, and it hit the papers Outside (lower 48). I moved back here shortly after that and never did hear how it turned out.
One thing that didn't help- I was watching the local Anchorage news one night and they showed footage of a state biologist using a .22 to shoot a wolf that was caught in a trap. He shot it something like 9 times before it finally keeled over. The wolf jumped and twisted every time a round hit him. I'm not squeamish, but it was a very unpleasant, disheartening scene. It was irresponsible of the biologist to use such a light weapon but to release a video like that was totally insane. All it did was inflame the animal-rights crowd.

Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Keta and 1 Pump,
Eugenes own Peter DeFazio( if memory serves, I could be off on the name-my weakness) spearheaded the attatck on Alaska. I am sure he is a qualified biologist who has all the answers to the questions. Or maybe he is a puppet trying to win votes and continue his career as a career politician. I am sure his mother is very proud.

What a bunch of crap...to those 'special interest groups': I really, truly hate you. Who do these people think they are? NOTHING fries my bacon more than these jerks.

Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Ron Saxton is VERY anti-public employee. He had an article a few weeks ago and basically blamed the whole budget crisis and all PERS problems on public employees. He might have good views on other issues but I sure as heck didnt vote for him

Re: Ron Saxton commentary @KATU
Yap, those SIG's think it'd be better to have there kids out pointing guns at each other and lightin' up the latest favorite in drugs than have them learn gun safety and do something constructive with there spare time.
Most of those groups are just such a bunch of two face ****'s that its just ridiculous. They gripe and complain about environmental crap and about shooting bambi etc yet they go out and hop in there cars and drive through bambi's home that was disrupted by a "high speed game trail" for their benefit. Wonder what they say when a deer pops out in front of them at 60 mph and they total their car - bet it isn't, "ohh, poor bambi....." more like "SON OF A...... STUPID A$$ DEER!!!"
I'm not going to jump on my wagon but you'd think that people could look back 50, 100, 150 years and what kinds of things people did and what kind of hobbies kids had back then and could see that maybe hunting and fishing isn't so bad and that maybe allow religion in schools and/or to allow kids to just say the Nat'l Anthem or the Pledge of Legence, even though it refer's to god, maybe isn't such a bad idea. Idiots
k.. I'm done venting...
