Default Tuna 7/12 a few pic's added

Well better late than never. I was trying to upload photos Maybe will try to add to this post later. We had an awesome day out of Depoe Bay. We went as far as 40 miles but hooked most of our fish between 20 and 30 miles. We did have a double in the afternoon at 18 miles. It was just my brother and I. We got 11 without handlines. We did really well with the Mexican Flag. I think it hooked 7 of the 11 fish. We got a couple on Pink. I had cedar plugs but didn't really use them. Them Tuna sure are fun to fight. As soon as they get next to the boat it seems they all dove straight down. The biggest was about 25 pounds. This was my first trip and the boats first Tuna trip as well. I never figured on the mess it would make in the boat. Next time I will be better prepared and bring a trash can to bleed'em. The smaller plastic tote wasn't cutting it. Took almost a day of cleaning to get the boat looking good again . With a limit of 25/day what the heck would one do with that much tuna!!!!! I brought home 6 and thats quite a bit of fish!!! I just wanted to thank all you ifishers for your great posts. This was our first trip and we had no experience your posts made it possible to be sucessful.

Thanks for the report hillbilly. We ended up with out a kill bucket but used his splash well. It worked great. We kept a clean boat and didn't lose a fish either all depends on the boat too.

Good going! Hillbilly, not a bad first Tuna trip, sounds like beginner's luck is contagious this year.

Find an old 90 gallon residential garbage container and build a 12" false bottom in it so the blood runs to the bottom. They work pretty good because you can shut the lid until they get done break dancing. They'll hold about 4 20#ers vertical.

I wouldn't recommend using the one from the house if you have one.

Aw come on.. Some of the coolest pics are of the inside of the boat after a couple of TUNA! have been spiked TUNA! boats are supposed to get that way. Ya just need to make sure your crew is stuck with cleaning up afterwards

I really like that idea about the garbage can with the false bottom. I will work that out. Tuna clothes are forever haha. Seriosly, the boat looked like a cow was slaughtered in it! But it was probably the funnest trip I have ever had!!!

I too was out there tueaday on my former boat, The Sea Jypzee. I suspect it was you who we were trying to talk to on the radio. Was kind of hard to hear you. :depressed:

Pat, the guy who now owns my old boat was out with me. We didn't do great, but I did break another Tuna Cherry, so not all was lost. We were a little limited on fuel since he didn't bring any extra and had not been out that far on the boat yet.
