Okay guys, here's the scoop. The hunt will take
place Sunday March 2nd. Here are the ground rules :

1. 50% deposit ($70)due by Monday Jan. 20. Make checks payable to Cochran and Smith Guide Service. Send to :

IFISH Goose Hunt
c/o Rauly

Banks , OR 97106

2. We will set up a place to eat after the hunt.

3. NO DOGS

4. Carpools are highly encouraged. Parking at hunt spot is limited.

5. If you are planning on calling, make sure the call is high pitched. Calls such as a Traffic, I-5 Killer, or Half Breed.

6. I need all hunters to email me your phone numbers. You will be contacted by phone approx. 8pm the night before the hunt to let you know where and what time.

7. The balance of what is owed, is due at the time of the hunt.

I will keep you posted if anything new arises.
Any questions.

Some hunters on the March 2nd hunt have not shot in a large group and others have not hunted with guides before. So if I could be so bold I would like to bring up a couple of things that might be helpful to those folks. First remember that you are being provided a service by two men that are doing their best to show you a good time. They are the captains and you should respect their rules what ever they may ask. When hunting in a large group your sportmanship ethics are on display for all to observe. When the guide calls for you to take the birds it is quite possible more than one of you will choose the same bird for the shot. Please don't be one of those who shout "I gotem".
If you know you have knocked down your share, ask who doesn't think he's knock down his share and let him shoot first at subsequent
birds. Don't be one of those horse's tails that shoots two limits at the expense of someone else. It is highly unlikely that you are going to get the exact birds you shot, 17 guns are a lot
people yet a pile of fun if you have the right attitude. Your there to have a good time and see to it that your partners do too, even if you can't count them all. Help out when the guide calls for no movement no noise.....don't
make it tough on them by putting the stopper in your thermos or wad that paper up on the cookie you were munching on . Remember to do your best to dress well. Raingear is important and it needs to be nonglare and camo if you can. Some may elect to bring heaters etc. Ask the guide, heaters do make noise and can be a poor choice as to how to stay warm. Never shoot until the shot is called for by the guides. They are the only ones to call for the shot. Do not load your shotgun until the guide says to do so. You may wish to change places so that others can be close to the guide to observe his hand movements when calling or to be able to shoot at a different angle, etc., asking is the way to approach it. How you act will determine how much fun the group has. These two guides are, as already said, providing a service and you need to keep that in mind when you pay at the end of the hunt. Talk to GetBit about the "TIP". If you had a good time you should show it in this way as well. Private tips are not usually as large as company guys who are entertaining clients. 15 to 20% is a solid tip for a private group. If you were really wow'ed you can do more of course. I know there are a lot more things that can be said and I will leave that to you all. You are going to have a terrific time and I sure hope there will be room for me next year.

I've got a crew-cab pickup we could use to gather up guys along the way. I'll be coming from Sweet Home, so anybody between here and there is welcome to ride.

I also don't mind picking up folks. Easiest for me would be to pick up along the I-84 corridor from Troutdale, west.

Let me know if anyone is interested. I should have room for 2/3 depending on how much gear people are bringing. (Gun, Camo's, Thermos, lunch).
