Newport is always a good option. Camp at the state park and go down to Waldort rent a boat and take the family crabbing. It’s pretty fun for all. Fly kites, Beach comb, spend some time at the cleaning stations and meet some Salty dogs.

Clear Lake on Hwy 20 near the Santiam Junction (Hwy 22) in the Cascades is pretty, with nice Forest Service campgrounds (may need a reservation), and the small store/lodge rents row boats. "Clear" is not understated, and the lake is the headwaters of the McKenzie river. Lots of easy day hikes, and beautiful, "air-conditioning" waterfalls downstream.
