I am always looking for geese while driving to dog training down near Aurora. I usually see several flocks between the freeway and Champoeg state park. Today none. I heard a few flocks further south while training, but didn't see them.
Hunted SI eastside for ducks yesterday. It was still 39 degrees and thick fog (30 yard visibility) when I picked up at 1100am. My buddy got the only duck of the morning shortly after shooting time. Didn't hear too much shooting and saw less than 30 ducks in the fog.
BTW if anybody hasn't noticed there are probably close to 1000 snows running around on Sauvie right now. They have been there for at least the last two weeks. If you have an SI lease, it might be worth it to put out snow dekes just in case. It may also make things look a little more realistic to what the honkers see when roosting on the refuge. (If you need help doing this, please let me know. Have gun and permit, will travel.)
